Abstract
Description
本發明屬於液晶顯示領域,更具體地,涉及液晶組合物及包含該液晶組合物的液晶顯示元件、液晶顯示器。
液晶顯示元件根據顯示方式分為下列模式:扭曲向列相(TN)模式、超扭曲向列相(STN)模式、共面模式(IPS)、垂直配向(VA)模式。無論何種顯示模式均需要液晶組合物有以下特性:
(1)化學、物理性質穩定;(2)黏度低;(3)具有合適的介電△ε;(4)合適的折射率△n;(5)與其他液晶化合物的互溶性好。
早期商用的TFT-LCD產品基本採用了TN顯示模式,其最大問題是視角窄。隨著產品尺寸的增加,特別是在TV領域的應用,具有廣視野角特點的IPS顯示模式、VA顯示模式依次被開發出來並加以應用。
但是,FFS模式、IPS模式、VA模式等的顯示元件所用的液晶介質,本身並不完美,對於顯示器件所用的液晶材料,要求具有低的驅動電壓:液晶材料具有適當的負介電各向異性和彈性係數K;快速反應:液晶材料具有適當的旋轉黏度γ1和彈性係數K;高可靠性:高的電荷保持率,高的比電阻值,優良的耐高溫穩定性及對UV光或常規的背光照明來照射的穩定性有嚴格要求等的特點。隨著LCD(液晶顯示器)產品技術更新換代越來越快,
對LCD產品的反應速度要求也越來越高。現有技術液晶材料的反應速度受限於液晶的旋轉黏度γ1/彈性常數K,因此,為了實現快速反應,需要想盡方法去降低液晶材料的旋轉黏度γ1同時提升其彈性常數K。而在實際研究中發現,旋轉黏度和彈性常數是一對密切聯繫的參數,降低旋轉黏度的同時會引起彈性常數的下降,藉以達不到降低反應時間的目標。
目前,應用於顯示器件的反應速度優良、各種顯示不良得到改善的液晶組合物仍然是人們期望獲得的。尤其是VA模式等模式下,顯示元件所用的液晶介質為負介電各向異性,與正介電各向異性的液晶介質相比,其存在介電偏小、反應時間比較慢、驅動電壓比較高等缺點。因此,期望獲得具有提高的反應時間的負介電各向異性的液晶介質。
為了解決現有技術中存在的至少一個問題,本發明的目的在於提供一種具有負介電各向異性的液晶組合物,其具有較高的光學各項異性、較低的γ1/K33藉以具有改善的反應時間,由此能夠提高應用於顯示器件時的反應速度和改善顯示質量。
為達到上述目的,本發明採用下述技術方案:本發明提供一種具有負介電各向異性的液晶組合物,其包含:質量含量為1~10%的式I所示化合物作為第一組分;質量含量為1~20%的式II所示化合物作為第二組分;2種以上的式III所示化合物作為第三組分;3種以上的式IV所示化合物作為第四組分;以及,一種或多種可聚合性化合物作為第五組分,
其中,R1、R2、R3、R4各自獨立地表示碳原子數為1~10的烷基、氟取代的碳原子數為1~10的烷基、碳原子數為1~10的烷氧基、氟取代的碳原子數為1~10的烷氧基、碳原子數為2~10的鏈烯基、氟取代的碳原子數為2~10的鏈烯基、碳原子數為3~8的鏈烯氧基或氟取代的碳原子數為3~8的鏈烯氧基,其中任意一個或多個不相連的CH2任選被亞環戊基、亞環丁基或亞環丙基取代;表示1,4-亞環己基或1,4-亞苯基;n表示0或1。
本發明還提供一種液晶顯示元件或液晶顯示器,其包含本發明的液晶組合物,所述液晶顯示元件為主動矩陣定址顯示元件或液晶顯示器或者被動矩陣定址顯示元件或液晶顯示器。
與現有技術相比,本發明的液晶組合物在維持合適的光學各項異性(Δn)的基礎上具有較低的旋轉黏度(γ1)以及低的γ1/K33,含有本發明的液晶組合物的本發明的液晶顯示元件或液晶顯示器具有較快的反應速度。
本發明一方面提供一種液晶組合物,所述液晶組合物包含:質量含量為1~10%的式I所示化合物作為第一組分、質量含量為1~20%的式II所示化合物作為第二組分、2種以上的式III所示化合物作為第三組分、3種以上的式IV所示化合物作為第四組分以及一種或多種可聚合性化合物作為第五組分,
其中,R1、R2、R3、R4各自獨立地表示碳原子數為1~10的烷基、氟取代的碳原子數為1~10的烷基、碳原子數為1~10的烷氧基、氟取代的碳原子數為1~10的烷氧基、碳原子數為2~10的鏈烯基、氟取代的碳原子數為2~10的鏈烯基、碳原子數為3~8的鏈烯氧基或氟取代的碳原子數為3~8的鏈烯氧基,其中任意一個或多個不相連的CH2任選被亞環戊基、亞環丁基或亞環丙基取代;表示1,4-亞環己基或1,4-亞苯基;n表示0或1。
作為前述碳原子數為1~10的烷基,可以列舉出例如,甲基、乙基、正丙基、異丙基、正丁基、異丁基、叔丁基、正戊基、異戊基、己基、庚基、辛基、壬基、癸基等。
作為前述的碳原子數為1~10的烷氧基,可以列舉出例如,甲氧
基、乙氧基、正丙氧基、異丙氧基、正丁氧基、異丁氧基、戊氧基、己氧基、庚氧基、辛氧基、壬氧基、癸氧基等。
作為前述碳原子數為2~10的鏈烯基,可以列舉出例如,乙烯基、1-丙烯基、1-丁烯基、2-丁烯基、3-丁烯基、1-戊烯基、2-戊烯基、3-戊烯基、4-戊烯基、1-己烯基、2-己烯基、3-己烯基等。
作為前述碳原子數為1~10的烷基中任意一個或多個不相連的CH2被亞環戊基、亞環丁基或亞環丙基取代得到的基團,可以列舉出例如,環戊基、環丁基、環丙基、甲基環戊基、甲基環丁基、甲基環戊基等。
本發明的液晶組合物中,作為組成成分的式I、式II、式III、式IV以及可聚合化合物的含量沒有特別的限制,本領域技術人員能夠根據需要選擇各組成成分的合適的含量。優選地,本發明的液晶組合物中,以可聚合化合物之外的成分的質量含量總和為100%,前述式I所示化合物在液晶組合物中的質量含量為1~10%,優選為5~8%;前述式II所示化合物在液晶組合物中的質量含量為1~20%,優選為15~20%;前述式III所示化合物在液晶組合物中的總質量含量為5~40%,優選為16~25%;前述式IV所示化合物在液晶組合物中的總質量含量為5~50%,優選為10~40%;前述可聚合化合物在其餘液晶總質量為100%的基礎上進行添加,前述可聚合化合物的添加質量含量可以為例如0.01~1%,優選為0.03~0.2%。
其中,R5、R6各自獨立地表示碳原子數為1~10的烷基、氟取代的碳原子數為1~10的烷基、碳原子數為1~10的烷氧基、氟取代的碳原子數為1~10的烷氧基、碳原子數為2~10的鏈烯基、氟取代的碳原子數為2~10的鏈烯基、碳原子數為3~8的鏈烯氧基或氟取代的碳原子數為3~8的鏈烯氧基,其中任意一個或多個不相連的CH2任選被亞環戊基、亞環丁基或亞環丙基取代;、各自獨立地表示1,4-亞環己基、1,4-亞環己烯基或1,4-亞苯基。
其中,R7、R8各自獨立地表示碳原子數為1~10的烷基、氟取代的碳原子數為1~10的烷基、碳原子數為1~10的烷氧基、氟取代的碳原子數為1~10的烷氧基、碳原子數為2~10的鏈烯基、氟取代的碳原子數為2~10的鏈烯基、碳原子數為3~8的鏈烯氧基或氟取代的碳原子數為3~8的鏈烯氧基,其中任意一個或多個不相連的CH2任選被亞環戊基、亞環丁基或亞環丙基取代;表示1,4-亞環己基或1,4-亞苯基。
優選地,前述式VI所示化合物在液晶組合物中的質量含量為0~30%,優選為5~25%;本發明的液晶組合物中,可選的,還可以加入各種功能的摻雜
劑,在含有摻雜劑的情況下,摻雜劑的含量優選在液晶組合物中所占的質量百分比可以為例如0.01~1.5%,這些摻雜劑可以列舉出例如抗氧化劑、紫外線吸收劑、手性劑。
Rb表示碳原子數為1-10的烷基。
[液晶顯示元件或液晶顯示器]
本發明還涉及包含上述任意一種液晶組合物的液晶顯示元件或液晶顯示器;所述顯示元件或顯示器為主動矩陣顯示元件或顯示器或被動矩陣顯示元件或顯示器。
優選地,所述液晶顯示元件或液晶顯示器優選為主動矩陣液晶顯示元件或液晶顯示器。
優選地,所述主動矩陣顯示元件或顯示器為VA-TFT、IPS-TFT或FFS-TFT液晶顯示元件或顯示器。
為了更清楚地說明本發明,下面結合優選實施例對本發明做進一步的說明。本領域技術人員應當理解,下面所具體描述的內容是說明性的而非限制性的,不應以此限制本發明的保護範圍。
本說明書中,如無特殊說明,百分比均是指質量百分比,溫度為攝氏度(℃),其他符號的具體意義及測試條件如下:Cp表示液晶清亮點(℃),DSC定量法測試;Δn表示光學各向異性,no為尋常光的折射率,ne為非尋常光的折射率,測試條件為25±2℃,589nm,阿貝折射儀測試;Δε表示介電各向異性,Δε=ε∥-ε⊥,其中,ε∥為平行於分子軸的介電常數,ε⊥為垂直於分子軸的介電常數,測試條件為25±0.5℃,20微米垂直盒,INSTEC:ALCT-IR1測試;γ1表示旋轉黏度(mPa.s),測試條件為25±0.5℃,20微米垂直盒,INSTEC:ALCT-IR1測試;
K11為扭曲彈性常數,K33為展曲彈性常數,測試條件為:25℃、INSTEC:ALCT-IR1、20微米垂直盒;液晶組合物的製備方法如下:將各液晶單體按照一定配比稱量後放入不銹鋼燒杯中,將裝有各液晶單體的不銹鋼燒杯置於磁力攪拌儀器上加熱融化,待不銹鋼燒杯中的液晶單體大部分融化後,往不銹鋼燒杯中加入磁力轉子,將混合物攪拌均勻,冷卻到室溫後即得液晶組合物。
本發明實施例液晶單體結構用代碼表示,液晶環結構、端基、連接基團的代碼表示方法見下表1、表2。
舉例:,其代碼為CC-Cp-V1;,其代碼為CPY-2-O2;
,其代碼為CCY-3-O2;
,其代碼為COY-3-O2;,其代碼為CCOY-3-O2;,其代碼為Sb-CpO-O4;,其代碼為Sc-CpO-O4。

將實施例1中的CC-3-V替換為CC-5-V,CCY-3-O2替換為CCOY-3-O2,其餘與實施例1相同,作為對比例1。與對比例1相比,實施例1具有較低的旋轉黏度γ1以及較低的γ1/K33,能夠獲得快速反應的液晶顯示器。
對比例2
液晶組合物的配方及相應的性能如下表12所示。
將實施例2中的PY-3-O2、PY-O2-O2替換為Sb-CpO-O4、Sc-CpO-O4其餘與實施例2相同,作為對比例2。與對比例2相比,實施例2具有較低的旋轉黏度γ1以及較低的γ1/K33,能夠獲得快速反應的液晶顯示器。
對比例3
液晶組合物的配方及相應的性能如下表13所示。
將實施例6中的PY-O4-O2替換為Sb-CpO-O4其餘與實施例6相同,作為對比例3。與對比例3相比,實施例6具有較低的旋轉黏度γ1以及較低的γ1/K33,能夠獲得快速反應的液晶顯示器。
對比例4
液晶組合物的配方及相應的性能如下表14所示。
將實施例7中的PY-O4-O2、CPY-3-O2分別替換為Sc-CpO-O4和CCOY-3-O2,其餘與實施例7相同,作為對比例4。與對比例4相比,實施例7具有較低的旋轉黏度γ1以及較低的γ1/K33,能夠獲得快速反應的液晶顯示器。
顯然,本發明的上述實施例僅僅是為清楚地說明本發明所作的舉例,而並非是對本發明的實施方式的限定,對於所屬領域的普通技術人員來說,在上述說明的基礎上還可以做出其它不同形式的變化或變動,這裡無法對所有的實施方式予以窮舉,凡是屬於本發明的技術方案所引伸出的顯而易見的變化或變動仍處於本發明的保護範圍之列。
Claims (9)
- 一種具有負介電各向異性的液晶組合物,其特徵在於,該液晶組合物包含:質量含量為1~10%的式I所示化合物作為第一組分;質量含量為1~20%的式II所示化合物作為第二組分;2種以上的式III所示化合物作為第三組分;3種以上的式IV所示化合物作為第四組分;以及,一種或多種可聚合性化合物作為第五組分,
- 根據請求項1所述之液晶組合物,其特徵在於,該式I所示化合物的質量含量為5~8%,該式II所示化合物的質量含量為15~20%。
- 一種液晶顯示元件,其特徵在於,包含請求項1~8的任一項所述之液晶組合物,該液晶顯示元件為主動矩陣定址顯示元件或者被動矩陣定址顯示元件。
