The present invention relates to a container for a smoking article such as a cigarette.

For packaging purposes, a plurality of articles of smoke intended to be finished are wrapped into the inner liner to form a bundle of wraps. Typically, the bundle of bundles is then embedded in a rigid outer wrap, for example, a hinged flap, a sliding outer wrap, a shoulder box, and the like.

According to the present invention, a container for providing a smoking article includes a box member, a cover and a hinge, wherein the box member includes a bottom wall, a front wall and a rear wall, wherein the cover includes a front wall, a rear wall and the entire top wall of the container . Preferably, according to the container of the present invention, the second top of the inner liner has no relation to the first top and is also removable from the inner liner. In this embodiment of the invention, the top wall of the inner liner includes two portions that are each removable. Preferably, the first top and the remaining inner liner are joined by at least one line of weakness. The line of weakness may be a crease, a score or a porous line. A perforation line is a preferred way to allow the first top to be separated from the remaining inner liner.

Preferably, the first top portion comprises one, two or three additional panels that are different from the inner liner of the top panel. This approach improves consumer convenience and access to smoking through the opening in the lining.
