Abstract

A package for tobacco products comprising a container (3, 4) and a closed container (2) consisting of a barrier material (15) for wrapping the number of packages of tobacco products. A closed container of barrier material is located inside the container and forms a take-off opening. A movable cover (7) has a tab (10) that extends over the extraction opening and can be picked. The container (3, 4) forms a window (14) located above the tab (10).

Description

The present invention relates to packaging for tobacco products, and in particular to smoking articles such as cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos and loose tobacco. For convenience, they are described herein as “cigarettes”.

It is known to provide a barrier layer as a wrapping paper inside a cigarette pack. By providing such a barrier layer, the shelf life of goods in severe weather conditions, particularly in high temperature and high humidity areas, is greatly improved.

Patent Document 1 below discloses a cigarette box having a main body and a hinged lid. The barrier layer forms a sealed enclosure inside the body for enclosing and containing the sealed contents, and the container is provided with an opening for taking out the contents therein. The cover that covers the take-out opening is provided with a tab that can be grasped and pulled by the user to expose the take-out opening. The tab is pressed against the surface of the underlying barrier material layer by a hinged lid. Such a configuration makes it difficult to pick the tab.

One solution to make the tab easier to pick is to bend the tab 180 degrees and fold it. This indicates to the consumer the back of the tab when the hinged lid is opened. The back surface of the tab has a different surface finish than the outer surface and does not have the glossy finish surface that the outer surface of the tab, cover and barrier material has.

The present invention provides a package for tobacco products, the package comprising a container and a barrier material for wrapping the number of packages of tobacco products, located in the container and forming a take-off opening And a movable cover having a tab that can be picked and extends over the extraction opening, the container forming a window located on the tab.

Accordingly, the tab is not subjected to pressure from the container. This configuration allows the user to more easily pick the tab once the container has been opened.

Embodiments of the present invention are described in detail below by way of example only with reference to the accompanying drawings.

FIG. 2 is a perspective view of a package according to the present invention with the lid closed. 1 is a perspective view of a package according to the present invention with a lid open. FIG.

With reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, a package 1 for tobacco products according to the present invention is shown. Package 1 includes a hermetically sealed charge 2 for containing tobacco products, preferably cigarettes. The sealed loading unit 2 is disposed in a container having a main body 3 and a hinged lid 4. The body 3 has an edge 16 on the front surface, which edge is adjacent to the opposite edge 17 on the front surface of the lid 4 when the lid 4 is in the closed position.

The sealed loading section 2 includes as many cigarettes as a single package, which is located in an inner frame (not shown). In addition, the loading section 2 includes a layer of barrier material 15, which provides a closed container that is sealed around the cigarette and also around the inner frame, if present. The layer of barrier material 15 has an extraction opening through which the cigarette can be extracted. The take-out opening is formed by an edge 6 on the upper surface of the loading unit 2 indicated by a broken line and an edge 12 on the front surface of the loading unit 2. The take-out opening can be closed repeatedly by the movable cover 7. The cover 7 is preferably of a flap shape having the hinge wire 5 on the surface of the barrier material 15. The hinge wire 5 is preferably located on the back surface of the barrier material 15 or adjacent to the back surface. The cover 7 is attached to the barrier material 15 or formed integrally with the barrier material 15.

The cover 7 is provided with a tab 10 at the edge far from the hinge line 5. The tab 10 is dimensioned so that the user can grab it, open the cover 7 and expose the take-off opening to take out the cigarette.

The cover 7 has a side edge 8 that overlaps the barrier material on the top surface of the loading unit 2 and a side edge 9 that overlaps the barrier material on the front surface of the loading unit 2. The lower surface of the cover 7 may be provided with a permanent adhesive material for removably adhering to the barrier material located under the cover adjacent to the edges 6, 12. Alternatively, a permanent adhesive material may be provided on the barrier material 15 to engage the cover 7. The tab 10 is at least partially uncoated with permanent adhesive material and overlaps the front surface of the barrier material 15.

The barrier material 15 may be made from, for example, metallized plastic or plastic / metal foil laminate. Cover 7 and / or tab 10 may be made from the same material as barrier material 15.

A window 14 is formed in the container. The window 14 is an opening provided in the container, and is formed between the edge 16 of the main body 3 and the edge 17 of the lid 4 adjacent thereto. The window 14 is preferably formed by cutting the main body 3 or by forming the main body 3 in a concave shape. Since the edge 16 is considered to extend along the periphery of the main body 3 facing the lid 4, the shape of the edge 16 is determined by the shape of the cutout. The cut-out portion forms the lower edge and both side edges of the window 14. The lid 4 has a straight edge 17 for forming the upper edge of the window. When the container is in an upright state as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the edge 16 is the top edge of the body 3 and the edge 17 is the bottom edge of the lid 4. The window 14 is arranged so as to coincide with the position of the tab 10 when the cover 7 is at a position covering the take-out opening. The tab 10 is located in the space formed by the window 14. The tab 10 is visible from the window 14 even when the lid 4 is closed.

The window 14 is preferably a rectangle having a long side that crosses the width direction of the container, that is, the front surface of the container in the horizontal direction. The corners of the window 14 may be rounded. The tab 10 is also preferably substantially rectangular with rounded corners and long sides extending in the horizontal direction.

The window 14 preferably extends in the horizontal direction for a distance shorter than the width of the outer body 3. The window 14 preferably extends in the horizontal direction a distance longer than the width of the tab 10. The vertical direction of the window 14, that is, the longitudinal range of the package 1 is preferably larger than the vertical range of the tab 10. The width of the window 14 is preferably between 10 mm and 80 mm, more preferably 20 mm to 50 mm, and even more preferably about 30 mm. The window 14 preferably has a vertical range of at least 3 mm, more preferably 3 mm to 15 mm.

The tab 10 is preferably configured to fit completely within the area of the window 14. Alternatively, only a portion of the tab 10 may be located within the window 14. In particular, only a part of the tab 10 on the side far from the cover 7 may be located in the window 14.

The tab 10 is located in the space in the window when the hinged lid 4 is closed. Thus, the tab 10 is not pressed against the barrier material 15 located under the tab, so that the consumer can easily pick the tab 10 when the lid is opened. The window 14 is an opening aligned with the tab so that the tab is not constrained by the container. The container does not press the tab 10 against the underlying barrier material. The entire outer surface of the tab 10, or at least a part thereof, and preferably an important part thereof, is visible through the window 14.

The outer surface of the tab 10 is continuous with the outer surface of the remaining portion of the cover, and is preferably continuous with the remaining portion of the barrier material 15. A continuous surface is a surface that does not extend through the edge. The outer surface of the tab 10 may be a surface different from the inner surface of the tab 10. The outer surface may have a glossy finished surface, and the inner surface may have a non-glossy finished surface. Cover 7 and barrier material 15 also preferably have an outer surface with a glossy finish and an inner surface with a matte finish. The fact that the outer surface of the tab 10 and the cover 7, and more preferably the barrier material 15, is continuous means that the respective finished surface faces outward and is visible to the user. The fact that the outer surfaces are continuous means that the same side surfaces of the tab 10 and the cover 7 face outward as viewed from the loading portion 2. Thus, the tab 10 is not folded beyond 180 degrees so that another side faces outward. The outer surface of the tab 10 may be printed with a logo or text that is visible through the window 14.

The tab 10 need not extend through the window 14 in order to be visible or located in free space, and the tab 10 may be provided in a determined orientation independent of the window 14 and the body 3. Well, it may be spaced from the underlying barrier material and / or at an angle to the barrier material. The tab 10 may be pre-bent during manufacture so that it is positioned at a slight angle relative to the underlying barrier material 15. The bending angle is preferably 90 degrees or less with respect to the barrier material, and more preferably less than 45 degrees. The window 14 provides a free space in which the angle of the tab 10 can be maintained even when the hinged lid 4 is closed and the package 1 is sold to the user.

Alternatively or in addition, an amount of adhesive material may be applied between the tab 10 and the underlying barrier material 15. The adhesive is provided so that the tab 10 is warped from the surface of the loading portion 2 so that the user can easily grasp the tab 10. The tab 10 may be held at an angle relative to the barrier material 15 by an adhesive provided in the form of dots, or may be held in parallel with the barrier material. A suitable adhesive is a hot melt adhesive that can be applied to the barrier material 15 in the form of dots. The tab 10 preferably does not extend beyond the outer surface of the front surface of the container. Alternatively, the tab 10 may extend beyond the outer surface of the front surface of the container.

The container is preferably formed from a blank of cardboard or similar foldable material. The package 1 is formed so that the tab 10 is not restrained by the surrounding container. The tab 10 is visible and can be touched by the user when the hinged lid is closed. The container may be overwrapped with a removable layer such as cellophane.

Since the tab 10 is not pressed against the container made of the barrier material by the window 14, the tab 10 can be easily picked. Further, the window 14 allows the tabs to be freely angled with respect to the barrier material, or the tabs can be provided spaced from the barrier material. The window also allows the user to see the tab 10 before opening the container.

To remove the cigarette, the user first opens the lid 4. Thereafter, the user picks the tab 10 and pulls and opens the cover 7 to expose the takeout opening. The user can then take out the cigarette through the take-out opening. The package 1 is closed by the user pulling the tab 10 towards the barrier layer 15 to close the cover 7 and then the lid 4 is closed. Alternatively, the user may pull tab 10 to open the lid and cover simultaneously.

The container may include two separate enclosures, each enclosure containing a number of cigarettes depending on its capacity. Each enclosure has an independent cover with a tab. Alternatively, the container may include a single closed container having two separate covers, each with a tab. One wide window provided in the container may be aligned with both tabs. Alternatively, the container may be formed with two separate windows aligned with each tab.

Up to this point, the window has been described as being formed by cutting the edge 16 of the outer body. Alternatively, however, the window is cut off the lower edge 17 of the lid and the straight upper edge 16 of the body. May be formed. Further, separately from them, the window may be formed by cutting the upper edge of the outer body and the lower edge of the lid.

Although the tab has been described as being folded at an angle of less than 90 degrees, it may be folded at a desired angle separately. The tab may be folded at an angle of about 180 degrees. The folding may occur at the time of applying the label / cover or during the process of wrapping the container with a further layer. For example, when the pack 10 is wrapped with the tab 10 folded 180 degrees (for example, with a cellophane known in the art), the barrier positioned below the tab 10 when the consumer peels the cellophane. It may be angled with respect to the material and protrude from the container for easy grasping by the consumer. Details regarding this point are described in Patent Document 2 below.

Although the window 14 has been described as being formed between the lid 4 and the main body 3, the window 14 may be formed as an opening that completely fits in the lid 4. All the perimeter of the window will be formed by the lid. As a result, the window is independent from the lower end of the lid 4 and the upper end of the main body 3. Alternatively, the entire window may be formed in the main body 3. Although the lid has been described as being hinged to the main body, it can be movably attached to the main body by any method. In particular, the lid does not have to be hinged and is slidable on the main body. You may attach to.

Although the tab has been described as having a smaller area than the window and having a width shorter than the width of the window, alternatively, the tab may have an area larger than the area of the window, And / or the horizontal width of the tab may be greater than the width of the window and / or the height of the tab may be greater than the height of the window.

Although the window 14 has been described as being provided on the front surface of the container, the window may be provided on the side surface of the container or on the back surface of the container.
