Description

伺服器叢集及其控制方法
本發明是有關於一種伺服器叢集及其控制機制。
刀鋒伺服器由於利用模組化設計進行優化以盡可能減少使用物理空間及能量,故可精簡伺服器架構。然而,刀鋒伺服器必須依靠人力操作或是由管理人員藉由操作遠端管理伺服器以控制刀鋒伺服器的基板管理控制器(Baseboard Management Controller,BMC)來關閉電源。上述的機制必須要利用遠端管理伺服器及基板管理控制器,無法有效降低刀鋒伺服器的成本。
本揭露是有關於一種伺服器叢集及其控制機制,利用偵測網路之一關機封包以關閉伺服器節點的電源,不需透過基板管理控制器,可有效降低刀鋒伺服器的成本並達到將伺服器節點關機的目的。
根據本揭露之第一方面,提出一種伺服器叢集,包括一網路交換機以及多個伺服器節點。網路交換機連接至一外部網路。每一伺服器節點執行一操作系統,並各自包括一網路埠、一網路晶片及一南橋晶片。網路埠用以經一網路線連接至網路交換機。網路晶片用以當網路交換機啟動後,依據所接收到之一關機封包輸出一關機訊號。南橋晶片用以當伺服器節點為開機狀態且操作系統正常工作 時,依據關機訊號輸出一中止訊號以中止伺服器節點。
根據本揭露之第二方面,提出一種伺服器叢集之控制機制,伺服器叢集包括一網路交換機以及多個伺服器節點。每一伺服器節點執行一操作系統,並各自包括一網路埠、一網路晶片及一南橋晶片。網路交換機連接至一外部網路。網路埠經一網路線連接至網路交換機。伺服器叢集之控制機制包括下列步驟。啟動網路交換機。利用網路晶片依據所接收到之一關機封包輸出一關機訊號。當伺服器節點為開機狀態且操作系統正常工作時,利用南橋晶片依據關機訊號輸出一中止訊號以中止伺服器節點。
為了對本揭露之上述及其他方面有更佳的瞭解,下文特舉一實施例,並配合所附圖式,作詳細說明如下:
本揭露是有關於一種伺服器叢集(server cluster)及其控制機制,利用偵測網路之一關機封包以關閉伺服器節點(server node)的電源,不需透過基板管理控制器(Baseboard Management Controller,BMC),可有效降低伺服器叢集的成本並達到將伺服器節點關機的目的。
請參照第1圖,其繪示依照一實施例之伺服器叢集之示意圖。伺服器叢集100包括一網路交換機(network switch)110以及多個伺服器節點120。網路交換機110用以連接至一外部網路,例如為一網際網路。每一伺服器節點120包括一網路埠(port)124、一網路晶片126、一南橋(south bridge)晶片128及一脈波延遲電路130。網路埠124 經一網路連結122,例如網路線(cable),連接至網路交換機110。網路晶片126用以當網路交換機110啟動後,依據所接收到之一關機封包輸出一關機訊號。此關機封包例如為一網絡重開機(Reboot on LAN,ROL)封包或一網絡喚醒(Wake on LAN,WOL)封包,然不限於此。南橋晶片128電性連接至網路晶片126;脈波延遲電路130電性連接至網路晶片126及南橋晶片128。
對應於伺服器叢集100,本揭露亦提出一種伺服器叢集之控制機制。請參照第2圖,其繪示依照一實施例之伺服器叢集之控制機制之流程圖。於步驟S200中,啟動網路交換機110。於步驟S210中,網路晶片126接收到關機封包,並據以輸出關機訊號PWR_OFF_L。於步驟S220中,判斷伺服器節點120是否為開機狀態。若伺服器節點120為關機狀態,則南橋晶片128及脈波延遲電路130均不動作,回到步驟S200。若伺服器節點120為開機狀態,則於步驟S230中,判斷伺服器節點120所執行之操作系統是否為非正常狀態,例如當機或hang-up等。
當伺服器節點120所執行之操作系統為正常狀態或正常工作,則於步驟S240中,南橋晶片128之一系統管理中斷(System Management Interrupt,SMI)腳位被關機訊號PWR_OFF_L致能產生一中止訊號SCI以通知操作系統中止伺服器節點120。於步驟S250中,伺服器節點120被中止。另一方面,當伺服器節點120所執行之操作系統非正常(hang-up),則於步驟S260中,脈波延遲電路130將關機訊號PWR_OFF_L轉換為一延遲訊號並送至南橋晶 片128,使得南橋晶片128輸出一電源訊號PWR_BUT_L中止伺服器節點120。
在上述的機制中,脈波延遲電路130實質上會藉由南橋晶片128之一訊號SLP_S5_L來偵測伺服器節點120的開關機狀態;脈波延遲電路130並於伺服器節點120為開機狀態且操作系統為正常狀態時將關機訊號PWR_OFF_L轉換為具有一脈衝寬度達4秒之低準位脈衝的延遲訊號。在目前既有的規範下,此脈脈衝寬度達4秒之低準位脈衝會使得南橋晶片128強迫操作系統中止伺服器節點120。
請參照第3圖,其繪示依照一實施例之脈波延遲電路之一例之電路圖。在脈波延遲電路130中,脈衝寬度僅為幾毫秒的關機訊號PWR_OFF_L先被反相,再經由RC電路延遲脈衝寬度,最後依據訊號SLP_S5_L在伺服器節點120為開機狀態時輸出並反相為具有一脈衝寬度至少達4秒之低準位脈衝的延遲訊號。
本揭露上述實施例所揭露之伺服器叢集及其控制機制,利用偵測網路之一關機封包,例如為網絡重開機(ROL)封包或一網絡喚醒(WOL)封包,透過簡易的邏輯電路即可達到關閉伺服器節點電源的目的,不需透過基板管理控制器,可有效降低伺服器叢集的成本。
綜上所述,雖然本發明已以多個實施例揭露如上,然其並非用以限定本發明。本發明所屬技術領域中具有通常知識者,在不脫離本發明之精神和範圍內,當可作各種之更動與潤飾。因此,本發明之保護範圍當視後附之申請專利範圍所界定者為準。

Claims (6)

  1. 一種伺服器叢集(cluster),包括:一網路交換機,用以連接至一外部網路;以及複數個伺服器節點(node),每一個伺服器節點執行一操作系統,並各自包括:一網路埠,用以經一網路線連接至該網路交換機;一網路晶片,用以當該網路交換機啟動後,依據所接收到之一關機封包輸出一關機訊號;及一南橋晶片,用以當該伺服器節點為開機狀態且該操作系統正常工作時,依據該關機訊號輸出一中止訊號以中止該伺服器節點;其中,每一個伺服器節點更包括一脈波延遲電路,當該操作系統為非正常狀態且該伺服器節點為開機狀態,該脈波延遲電路將該關機訊號轉換為一延遲訊號並送至該南橋晶片,使得該南橋晶片中止該伺服器節點,該脈波延遲電路透過該南僑晶片判斷該伺服器節點是否為開機狀態。
  2. 如申請專利範圍第1項所述之伺服器叢集,其中該關機封包為一網絡重開機封包或一網絡喚醒封包。
  3. 如申請專利範圍第1項所述之伺服器叢集,其中該延遲訊號具有一脈衝寬度達1秒之低準位脈衝。
  4. 一種伺服器叢集之控制方法,該伺服器叢集包括一網路交換機以及複數個伺服器節點,每一伺服器節點執行一操作系統,並各自包括一網路埠、一網路晶片及一南橋晶片,該網路交換機連接至一外部網路,該網路埠經一 網路線連接至該網路交換機,該控制方法包括:啟動該網路交換機;利用該網路晶片依據所接收到之一關機封包輸出一關機訊號;以及當該伺服器節點為開機狀態且該操作系統正常工作時,利用該南橋晶片依據該關機訊號輸出一中止訊號以中止該伺服器節點;其中每一個伺服器節點更包括一脈波延遲電路,該操作方法更包括:當該操作系統為開機狀態時,判斷該伺服器節點是否為非正常狀態;以及當該操作系統為非正常狀態,利用該脈波延遲電路將該關機訊號轉換為一延遲訊號並送至該南橋晶片,使得該南橋晶片中止該伺服器節點,該脈波延遲電路透過該南僑晶片判斷該伺服器節點是否為開機狀態。
  5. 如申請專利範圍第4項所述之伺服器叢集之控制方法,其中該關機封包為一網絡重開機封包或一網絡喚醒封包。
  6. 如申請專利範圍第4項所述之伺服器叢集之控制方法,其中該延遲訊號具有一脈衝寬度達4秒之低準位脈衝。
