Abstract

A hide-away wiper and wiper scraper system has a wiper that is extended to wipe ink residue form an inkjet printhead installed in an inkjet printing mechanism, and following wiping, ink residue is scraped from the wiper during retraction into a hide-away rest position inside the scraper mechanism. For cleaning several inkjet printheads, several such hide-away wipers may be provided in like number for cleaning the printheads. The hide-away nature of these wipers allows for independent movement of the wipers between their rest and wiping positions, which facilitate the uses of independent wiping routines tailored for the servicing needs of each printhead, or type of printhead. An inkjet printing mechanism having a hide-away wiping system, along with a method of cleaning one or more inkjet printheads, are also provided.

Description

414762 , A? Description of the Invention (1) The present invention is generally related to inkjet printing machinery, and particularly to a hidden wiper and scraper system. This system has A scraping brush for scraping off ink residues of an ink jet printing head equipped in an ink jet printing mechanism, and after scraping, the ink residues on the scraping brush are returned to the scraper mechanism by the printing head. Scraped when hiding the rest position. Inkjet printers use ink cartridges, often called "ink pens". The ink cartridges eject colored droplets, commonly referred to as "inks" on a piece of paper. Each ink pen has a A print head consisting of very tiny nozzles that eject ink dots from it. When printing an image, the print head moves back and forth on the page, and the ink dots are ejected in a desired pattern while the print head is moving. The unique inkjet mechanism in the print head can take on various forms for those skilled in the art, such as the inkjet mechanism using piezoelectric or thermal print head technology. For example, the two k previous thermal spray The ink mechanism is shown in U.S. Patent Nos. 5,278,584 and 4,683,481. In a thermal inkjet printing system, a barrier layer containing ink channels and an evaporation chamber is located between a nozzle plate and a substrate layer. The substrate layer typically contains There is an array of linear heating elements, such as resistors, that heats the ink in the evaporation chamber after being energized. After heating, ink droplets are ejected from the nozzles associated with the energized resistors. The resistor is selectively energized when moving back and forth, and the ink is sprayed onto the print medium in a pattern to form a desired image (for example, a picture, a chart or text). To clean and protect the print head, it is typically -"Maintenance station 1" The mechanism is supported by a printer base so that the print head can be removed from the maintenance station during maintenance. When stored or not printed, the maintenance station usually includes a substantially closed column --- ------- Installation ------ Order ----- line (read the first read, please note on the back, then fill in this page) This paper size applies to China National Standard (CNS) A4 specifications ί 210X297 public 漤) 414 Village 2 A7 B7 Printed by the Consumer Cooperatives of the Central Standards Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs 5. Description of the Invention (2) Print head nozzles to prevent dirt and dry cover systems. Some covers are also designed to assist in startup A pumping device connected to the vacuum is on the print head. During operation, the blockage in the print head will be collected in one of the cone protection stations via a process called "spitting". The waste ink in the barrel scoops out some dots through each nozzle Periodically Qing Jie. After the spitting action, 'open the cover, or occasionally during printing, most maintenance stations have a scrape off the surface of the print head to remove residual ink, and any paper or other debris that has collected on the print head. Scraping brush. The wiping action is usually performed by using the relative action of the print head and the wiper, for example, by moving the print head across the wiper, by moving across the print head, or by moving the print head and the wiper. By. As the inkjet industry continues to update the design of print heads, the trend of print heads is gradually toward the use of permanent or semi-permanent print heads, such as the industry-known "non-axis" printers. In the system, the Qing Qing head only carried a small ink supply back and forth on the printing area. This ink supply was replenished through a "non-axis" fixed ink tank released from a remote fixed position inside the printer. . Because these permanent or semi-permanent printheads have only a small supply of ink, they can actually be narrower than their previous replaceable ink cartridges. The narrower print head results in a narrower print mechanism, which has a smaller " occupied space ", so only a small desktop space is needed to house the print mechanism in use. Narrower print heads are usually smaller and lighter, so smaller ink tanks, bearings, and drive motors can be used, giving customers a more economical printing device. '' There are various advantages related to these non-axis printing systems, but permanent or semi-permanent print head maintenance requires special consideration1, especially when printing-11-1 I «1 · 1 I · I batch Yi-II (please read the precautions on the back before filling out this page) 111 The size of the thread paper is applicable to the Chinese National Standard (CNS) A4% grid (210X 297 mm) 414762 A7 B7 __ 5. Description of the invention (3) When scraping off the ink residue, it must be done without any considerable wear that may reduce the life of the print head. Of course, keeping the nozzle surface plate of a pigment-based ink cartridge clean has proven to be quite a challenge. Due to the early use of dye-based inks, it is sufficient to periodically scrub the print head with an elastic wiper. Any dye-based ink residue on the wiper is removed using a small scraper area along each side edge of the print head, which is supplied as a replaceable ink cartridge to extend the life of the printer. The accumulated residue will not be a problem. However, due to the arrival of pigment-based inks, the second operation of a clean wiper has become necessary to remove the wet sticky pigment ink residue on the wiper. In early printers that used these pigment-based inks, this second wipe operation was accomplished using a rigid plastic wiper strip. Either or both of the wiper and the wiper blade are moved to each other, and the wiper blade is scraped off by the wiper strip to remove the ink on the surface of the wiper blade. For example, an early cam operator wiper scraper system was first used in the Model DesksetR 850C and 855C inkjet printers. This type of printer is sold by our client, and is a Hewlett-Packard, California, Palo Alto ( Hewlett-Packard) company, which requires a complex ink core channel to draw the liquid portion of the ink from the surface of the main wiper and enter a blotting paper element that will absorb the ink. Unfortunately, this cam operating system requires more complexity This increases the assembly and manufacturing costs of these printers. Another wiper system was first sold in Hewlett-Packard's Model 720C Deskset R inkjet printer, which moved the wiper under a rigid plastic wiper strip. This type of conversion scraping system, although it is easier to manufacture the earlier cam operating system, unfortunately, it requires additional horizontal travel distance II n I for scraping. Description of the invention (4) to move under the scraper bar. The running distance also contains an over-migration element beyond the scraper bar, which is called "brushing over bending distance". This over-bending distance allows a flexible wiper to scrape off the first side of the wiper blade Return to an upper right corner position and clean the other side of the wiper blade before turning the downstream direction of the wiper strip back. This extra travel distance also requires a larger maintenance station, which brings the printer The size of the occupied space is increased. Also, in these earlier wiper scraper systems, pigment-based ink residues often accumulate on the scraper surface in a paste form. Early plastic scrapers of this paste residue were not completely effective. Instead, when encountering this paste-like ink residue, the plastic wiper will make the ink on the wiper surface more dirty when the wiper blade is more curved, rather than the self-scraper blade. Residue on the surface. Another disadvantage of the plastic scraper is the tendency of the wiper blade when the wiper is wiped away to wipe off the ink on the surface. This ink splashing or wiping action moves the ink residue to Other areas and prints The components in the maintenance station soiled the surface it touched. Finally, 'one of the most annoying early scrapers is the annoying noise generated by the scrape scraping action. Therefore' The inkjet print head scraping system of the cleaner has the need to quietly 'prevent the accumulation of paste ink such as scrapers, minimize the pollution and noise when wiping off the ink on the wiper blades, and minimize the space occupied by printing equipment. According to one aspect of the present invention, a scraping system provides an inkjet print head that wipes out one of an inkjet printing mechanisms, and includes a wiper having first and second surfaces facing each other. Description of the invention (9) Material and pigment characteristics Mixed or composite ink. It is obvious that the inkjet printing mechanism 'printer 20 is only one example, and can be equipped with other pen arrangements, such as a single pen' with multiple color inks, replaceable inkjet pens or inks of more than four ink pens. pen. The exemplified ink pens 50-56 each contain an ink tank for an ink supply stored in a so-called " non-axis " ink delivery system, as opposed to reciprocating along the scan axis 46 on the print head. When moving back to the printing area 25, each ink pen has a replaceable ink tank system with an ink tank carrying the entire ink supply. Therefore, the replaceable ink cartridge system can be considered as a "axis-type" system, whereas the main ink supply is stored far from the scanning axis of the printing area-a system in a static position is called a non-axis-type system. In the illustrated non-axis printer 20, each color ink of each print head is conveyed to the ink pen via a duct or pipe system 58, a set of main fixed ink tanks 60, 62, 64, and 66, respectively. Built-in ink tanks on 50, 52 '54 and 56. Fixed or main ink tanks 60-66 are replaceable ink supplies stored in a reservoir 68 supported by the printer base 22. Ink pen 5 , 52, 54, and 56 each have print heads 70, 72, 74, and 76, respectively, which selectively eject ink to form an image on a print medium in the print area 25. Although disclosed herein The idea of a clean print head can also be applied to all replaceable inkjet water tanks and the non-axis semi-permanent or permanent print heads exemplified, but the biggest benefit of the exemplified system is that it can be used in Prolonged print head life is practically non-axis Generally, the print heads 70, 72, 74, and 76 each have an orifice plate with nozzles made mostly by a method well known to those skilled in the art. V. Invention Description (10)-The nozzles of a printing head 70-76 are typically at least one, but typically The above are two linear arrays along the orifice plate. Therefore, the term "linear" used herein can be expressed as " nearly linear " or substantially linear, and can include nozzle arrangements with slight displacements from each other For example, it is arranged in a zigzag manner. Each linear array is typically aligned perpendicular to the long direction of the scanning axis 46. The length of each array determines the maximum image width that the print head passes through once. Although the print head is exemplified 70-76 series are thermal inkjet print heads, but other types can also be used The print head is, for example, a piezoelectric print head. Thermal print heads 70-76 typically include a plurality of resistors associated with the nozzles. Once a selected resistor is applied, an ink dot is ejected from the nozzle To the air bubbles on the paper under the nozzles in the print area 25. The print head resistor is selectively energized in response to the ejection command control signal from the controller 40 via the composite conductor bar 78 to the print head 45 Figures 2-5 illustrate the concealment of a part of a maintenance station frame 82 constructed in accordance with the present invention and assembled on a printer base 22 or replaced by a base 22 fixed within a maintenance area 7δ. A type of wiper and scraper system 80. The extension from a base 74 is an elastic, non-abrasive, elastic, such as an eye rubber, and preferably an ethylene-propylene-diene monomer (EPDM), or other comparable material known in the art. Scraper blade 85 = The hardness of the wiper blade 85 can be in the range of 35-90 of the Shore hardness scale A, and it is best to choose within the range of 50-70 of the Shore hardness scale A. The wiper blade 85 has an inner brushing surface 86 and an opposite outer brushing surface 88, each of which is shown to be covered with a layer of ink residue in Figs. 2-4. Obviously, those skilled in the art know that the amount of ink residue deposited on the wiper blades shown in Figures 2-5 is too large. The paper size is applicable to China National Standards (CNS) A4 (210X297). -13------------ install ------ order ----- line (please read the precautions on the back before filling in this page) 414762 Employee Consumer Cooperatives, Central Standards Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs Printed A7 B7 5. The invention description (11) is for illustrative purposes only. The normal residue accumulation on the wiper blade 85 during a brushing process is typically very small. In the illustration of the part in FIG. 2, a part of the displayed print head 45 is moving one of the ink pens, here is the black ink pen 50, and moves along the scan axis 46 toward the printing area 25 to the left for Print. Before the step in FIG. 2, the ink residue 90 shown therein is accumulating along the outer blade surface 88, and the ink cartridge 45 moves the ink pen 50 and other ink pens 52 in the opposite direction, that is, the right side of FIG. 2. -56, the residue 90 is scraped off from the print head 70 and accumulated on the inner wiper blade surface 86 °. The wiper blade 85 exemplified has an end wiper 92. Although it is exemplified by a square, in other embodiments The shape of the middle brush remover 92 may specifically conform to the wiper blade to enhance the scraping ability of the wiper blade 85. A single wiper blade 85 is used to illustrate the concept of the present invention, but it is obvious that the printer can be equipped with a similar wiper blade for cleaning the color print heads 72-76. Alternatively, since the black pigment-based ink pen 50 has proven difficult to scrape and maintain, the wiper used to clean the color print heads 72-76 may be of a more conventional type. If the color print head is sufficiently wiped If it proves to be unnecessary, a scraper system can be omitted. In order to scrape off the residues 90 accumulated on the brushing surfaces 86 and 88 of the wiper blade 85, the wiper base 84 is mounted on a movable support platform 94. The platform 94 is attached with a driving mechanism, such as a driving arm 95 for moving toward or away from the print head 70. What is not shown here is the vertical movement in the Z direction. Various non-R mechanisms can be used to move the driving arm 95 toward and away from the print head. In the exemplified embodiment, a rack and pinion mechanism is used, including a paper size applicable to the Chinese National Standard (CNS) A4 specification (210X 297 g): 14 — ------- --Installation ------- 1T ----- Wei (Please read the precautions on the back before filling this page) 414762 A7 B7 V. Invention Description (12) (Please read the precautions on the back before reading (Fill in this page) A rack 96 driven by a pinion 97 is coupled to an output shaft of a drive motor 98. Obviously other mechanisms can also be used to move the driving arm 95 toward or away from the print head 70, such as solenoids (Figures 6 and 7), pistons, and levers, cams or gears, some of which can even be used. It is driven by the movement of the print head cartridge. Concealed wiper system 80 printed by the Consumer Cooperatives of the Central Standards Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs includes a wiper scraper system 100, which is shown here as two sandwich scraper assemblies or arms 102 and 104, which are placed The middle ground is installed in a pair of supporting elements 105 extending upward from the maintenance station frame 82, such as hinge points 106, 108 as shown in FIG. To the extent practical, the term "wipe" is used here to denote the cleaning of the print head. The term "sc rape" is used to describe a print head erasure process. The cleanliness of the scraper. Each scraper arm 102 and 104 ends at a scraper blade 110 at one end. Each scraper arm 102 and 104 has a shoulder, for example, adjacent to the scraper blade The shoulders 112 and 114 of 112. Each scraper arm 102, 104 has been deflected in the direction of the conventional wiper blade 85 to press the wiper blade between the scraper blades 110. This biasing force is provided by the third -The spring assemblies 116 and 118 shown in Figure 5 are provided. Not only the coil springs 116, 118, but also various mechanisms can be used to tilt the scraper arms 102, 104 to each other, for example, fixed at the hinge points 106, 108. Leaf spring or torsion spring. The scraper arms 102, 104 form a shield, and the inner area of the shield is located in the middle of an arm defining a wiper storage chamber for storage when the wiper blade 85 is retracted. The position is shown in Fig. 5. Although the illustrated embodiment shows that the scraper blade 110 touches the side table during the scraping step of Fig. 2 86, 88, but the base 84 is formed to move the scraper arms 104 and 〇4 during scraping without touching the scraper blade 84 to ensure that there will be no scraper during scraping. Description of the invention (13) The bending of the arm interference wiper blade In operation, the driving arm 95 moves the wiper blade 85 to the print head to a scraping position, as shown by arrow 122 in FIG. 3. The print head 70 shown in FIG. 2 The scraping is achieved by scraping the ink residue 90 from the nozzle plate of the print head on the wiper blade 85 by reciprocating the print head back and forth with one or more strokes. During the scraping process, the residue 90 is collected along the inner and outer surfaces 86 and 88 of the wiper blade 95, as shown in Figures 2 and 3. The ink residue was not removed from the wiper blade, and the wiper blade was removed from the wiper The brush position, the driving arm 95 is lowered, for example, the motor 98 works with the rack and the pinions 96, 97 to retract the wiper blade to storage 120, as shown by the arrow in Figure 4. During the retraction step, the biasing force provided by the springs 116, 118 pushed the scraper blades 110 of the scraper arms 102, 104 to the scraper blades. The different side surfaces 86, 88 of 85 are in contact, as shown by the curved arrows 126, 128 in Figs. 3 and 4. Preferably, the scraper blades 110 of the scraper arms 102, 104 are turned, for example with a concave Holes, and preferably V-shaped grooves extending along the length of each scraper blade 110. The upper edge of the V-shaped groove structure beneficially provides a first brushing blade for removing the blade 85 The main residue 90 is formed on the lower edge of the groove to perform a final cleaning operation to remove any residue film that may still adhere to the surface 86, 88 of the brushing surface. As discussed in the previous background section, when the wiper passes under an earlier wiper strip, these wiper blades may over-bend, allowing the wiper strip to pass through the residue accumulated on the wiper blade 'without scraping it. This problem is avoided by the clamping action provided by the scraper arm 102 '104, which prevents the wiper blade 85 from bending away from any scraper (please read the precautions on the back before filling this page) -s This paper size applies to China National Standards (CNS) Λ4 specifications (210X29? 公 #.)-16-Printed by the Consumers' Cooperative of the Central Standards Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs 414762 at B7 • 5. Description of the invention (丨 4) Device blade 110. Therefore, the hidden wiper scraper system 80 is beneficial to avoid contaminated ink residues growing on the wiper blade 85, even when the pigment-based black ink of the ink pen 50 is brushed off. The scraping action provided by the scraper blade then accumulates ink residue along the shoulders 112 and 114 of the scraper arms 102 and 104 when the wiper blade 85 retracts to a rest position as shown in FIG. 5. . In this rest position, the wiper blade 85 is accommodated in the storage chamber 120 in a clean condition, which is different from the travel path of the printing head. Once out of the storage chamber 120, the driving arm 95 moves the wiper blade 85 toward the print head and only the clean lower edge of the V-shaped groove of the wiper blade 110 touches the side surface of the wiper blade. As shown in Figs. 6 and 7, the hidden wiper system 80 assists the separation and individual erasure of the black print head 70 (Fig. 6) independently of the erasure of the color print heads 72-76. Here, the system 80 is shown to include three additional hidden wiper blades 85 ', 85 " and 85' " for scraping different color print heads 72, 74, and 76. The system 80 also has three additional scraper systems 100 ', 100 " and 100 "' for cleaning the wiper blades 85 ', 85 "and 85'", respectively. In the sixth and seventh embodiments, the motor driving the rack pinion gears 96 and 97 of FIG. 2 has been replaced by a solenoid 130 that drives the black wiper support arm 95 to move back and forth between the wiper and the rest position. . In the illustrated embodiment, it is preferable to wipe the color print heads at the same time, rather than individually brushing each of the color print heads 72-76. Therefore, a single color solenoid 132 is used to drive a color wiper driving arm 95 ', 95 "and 95' " all coupled to the supporting assembly 134 to enable the wiper blades 85, 85 " and 85 ' "Move between wiper and rest position. In Figure 6, the black scraper brush 85 is shown to be raised to the scraper position by the solenoid 130, such as arrow 122-11 I-seed coat ~ ΪI I order (please read the precautions on the back before filling in this Page) This paper size is in accordance with Chinese National Standard (CNS) Λ4 specification (210 > < 297 mm) -17-Printed by the Employees' Cooperative of the Central Standards Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs 414762 A7 _______B7 5. As shown in the description of the invention (IS) The colored scrapers 85 ', .85_' and 85, " have been retracted to the rest position by the solenoid 132 'are shown by arrow 124. In Fig. 7 ', the colored wiper%, 85M and 85 show that they are being raised to the wiper position, as shown by arrow 122, and the black wiper 85 has been retracted to the rest position, as shown by arrow 124. The wiper system 80 allows selective brushing of the printheads, including a custom wiper speed and sequence for the clean black printhead 70 and clean color printheads 72-76. For example, colored ink pens 52-56 carrying dye-based inks can be scraped by the wiper blades -85 ', 85 " and 85 " at a faster speed than necessary for scraping black ink pens with a black pigment-based ink. Faster scraping speed. In the past, many maintenance stations used wipers that had to be wiped off both black and color printheads, so it was necessary to choose the best wiper speed compromise between black pigment-based and color dye-based. Problems in the past have been due to the slower swipe required for the clean black printheads to draw too much ink from the color printheads. When using a faster brush speed due to the color ink pen, there is no time for the color ink to penetrate between the nozzle plate and the color wiper, but the black wiper will pass the black ink residue on the black print head. These problems can be avoided by using a hidden wiper system, which can selectively lift or retract the wiper blades from the maintenance station position shown in Figures 6 and 7, thus enabling the black print head 70 and color columns. The scraping of both the heads 72-76 is optimized. Figures 8-10 show a hidden wiper system on a conventional maintenance station that makes vertical scraping easy, that is, scraping along the long direction of a 70-76 linear nozzle array of print heads, such as arrow 141. As indicated, it is perpendicular to the scan axis 46. The maintenance station 140 includes a frame base assembly 142 supported by the printer base, and an upper frame portion or cover 143. The frame 142 can also be used as a standard to connect to this paper. Applicable to the Chinese National Standard (CNS) A4 specification (2 丨 〇〆297) and 18 'n ^^ 1. The shaft gear 148 drives a transitionally movable wiper support platform or tray 150 in the direction indicated by arrow 141 for print head maintenance. Each of the pair of driving gears 146 meshes with a respective one of a pair of rack gears formed along a lower surface of one of the trays. The tray 150 has a sliding support 154 mounted on a rail 156 which is arranged to switch the movement along the inner surface of the frame base and / or the cover U2, 143. Maintenance station 140 has four hidden wiper scraper systems 80 '80', 80 ", 80, and µ for scraping different color print heads 72, 74, and 76. Numbered in the figure, but each of the four hidden wiper scraper systems 80, 8 (T, 80_ ', 80, "' is considered to contain a scraper mechanism, such as to The method 100 described in Figures 4-6 removes the residue mechanism 100. Here, the drive arm 95 of each system SOW " is fixed on a vertical movable support assembly 158, and the support assembly 15S is coupled to the tray 150 to face or leave Print head movement. The wiper support 158 includes a pair of cam followers, such as insert 160, which spans a pair of wiper drive cam tracks that are set along the inner surface of the frame base and / or the covers 142, 143. Insert a little 160 through a chute 164 surrounded by a part of the tray, as shown in Figures 9 and 10. Each track 162 contains a wiper blade that retracts to its respective cover. Stationary belt 165, a transition belt 166 where the wiper is raised and lowered, and the wiper blade 85 is raised to its active position Remove the tape. -19----------- 1 —----.— 1T ------ ^ (Please read the precautions on the back before filling in this tile) Central standard of the Ministry of Economy Printed by the Consumers ’Cooperative of the Bureau of the People ’s Republic of China on paper size (CNS) A4 ^ (210 X297) 414762 Α7 Β7 Employees of the Central Standards Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Cooperatives, etc. 5. Instruction of the Invention (17) During operation, In the illustrated embodiment, when the maintenance station drive motor and gear assembly 145 moves the tray 150 from the rest position of FIG. 8 to the front of the printer to the left of FIGS. 8 and 9, the cam follower is inserted. 160 passes over the transfer belt 166. In the transfer belt 166, the wiper blade 85 is raised to its wiping position, preferably after the ink cartridge 45 has moved all of the print heads 70-76 to the maintenance station 140. After their respective positions of action. The forward motion continues when the insert pin 166 moves back and forth on the wiper band 16δ of the track 162 via a scraping brush stroke. During this reversal period of the transition band 166, the tongue! J The wiper blade 85 is retracted due to the scraper blade used in the scraping step, as described above with reference to Figure 4. The tray 150 continues to move in a feedback manner until When the insert 160 is in a stationary position of one of the stationary bands 165 of the track 162, the wiper blade 85 is cleaned and stored in the covering arms 102 and 104. Therefore, a hidden wiper and scraper system 80 is used. The advantages of this are understood. For example, the cleaning of the wiper does not require additional horizontal movement of the wiper, so that the entire space occupied by the printing device will not be excessively increased by the use of the hidden wiper system 80. In addition, 'The ability to separate the wiper blade 85 to or from the wiper position allows separate ink brushes with different service requirements, such as black ink pens 50 and colored ink pens 52-56. habit. In addition, the use of the compressed type of the scraper arm 102, is beneficial for removing contaminated ink film residues from the wiper blade 85, which is better than the one-shot wiper that may be used in early inkjet printing mechanisms.器 条。 Tool bar. The concealed wiper system 80 also facilitates the construction of a more simplified maintenance station by allowing the ink slag collector or splash area to be located adjacent to the wiper. The cover provided by the scraping arms 102, 104 is beneficial to protect the scraping when the scraping brush is in a static position (please read the precautions on the back before filling this page) —i__ This paper size adopts Chinese National Standards (CNS ) See (2 丨 0X 297) -20-414762 A7 B7 V. Description of the Invention (ΐδ) The brush 85 is prevented from being sprayed by the ink residue sputtered and the wiper 85 is kept clean. For example, the maintenance station of Figs. 8-10 may have a dead zone of a cam track 162 located adjacent to the ink residue collection portion 144. In addition, the concealed wiper system wiper blade 85 does not bounce the ink to an undesired location inside the maintenance station, and does not cause such scraping of the wiper strip in earlier inkjet printers Unwanted noise generated during the swipe operation. No ink was swung to an undesired position, and various printings were printed in the side area 48 of the machine 20.
