Abstract

A method for handling burnable poison assembly includes the following steps: (a) to prepare a piece of a guide plate suitably to be overlapped with the spray nozzle plate of the fuel assembly top; (b) a handling tool attached with a magnetic rod at the front end on which will plate is hereby attracted; (c) by operating the handling tool to move the guide plate to the upper part of fuel assembly in the fuel pond, then release the magnetic force so as to attract the guide plate firmly to the spray nozzle plate surface by aligning the retainer lever; (d) by employing a movable crane to lift the burnable poison material over the upper part of the fuel assembly, now slowly and gradually lower down the burnable poison material to be inserted into the fuel assembly to become an integral part.
