Abstract
A ballpen refill, which comprises a chip holder having a front end hole and an ink passage hole; an ink containing member; one type of shear-thinning ink filling the ink containing barrel which has a high viscosity when in its motionless state and a reduced viscosity when the ball is rotating; an ink follower located at the rear end of the ink to prevent the occurrence of reverse flow of the ink while the ink is being consumed; a ballpen chip inserted in the front end hole of the chip holder while a coil spring normally urges the ball to the inside wall of the upset portion of a forward edge of the ball; and an end cap having vent means inserted in its rear end; which is characterized in that the inside of the chip holder (9) has an ink passage hole (9b); the chip holder (9) is inserted with an ink containing member (10) on an insert portion (9d); an ink passage, which consists of transversal grooves installed in a direction to the ink flow hole toward the axis and longitudinal grooves extending in the axis direction communicating with the transversal grooves, is installed on the ink containing member; a partitioning portion capable of restricting the amount of ink flowing through the longitudinal grooves is formed on the rear end.
