Abstract
A process of drying timber, which is characterized in comprising: housing layers of timber in such a way that heat is allowed to pass, maintaining the internal pressure at the normal pressure or close to normal pressure by a discharge device in the drying chamber, feeding steam into the chamber to raise the indoor temperature from normal temperature to 90~100 deg.C to undergo first drying in order to raise the temperature of timbers to 90~100 deg.C thoroughly which includes the surface layer to the center layer, after the center layer of timbers has been heated to 90~100 deg.C raising the indoor temperature to 100~200 deg.C in one step to undergo second drying in order to boil the moisture contained in the timbers to the extent that the moisture content of the timbers is the fiber saturation point of the target moisture content, when the moisture content has been reduced to the fiber saturation point changing the indoor temperature conditions such as dry-bulb temperature and wet-bulb temperature and based on the conditions carrying out third drying of low temperature moisture treatment in order to reach the target moisture content.
