PURPOSE: A process for treating wood useful for preservation thereof for long time is provided to attain inhibition of moisture penetration and propagation of micro-organism to the wood by applying pine oil such as terpene oil. CONSTITUTION: The process for treatment of wood effectively preserve the wood for long time and is conducted by heating the pine oil at 120-150 deg.C then boiling the wood in pine oil for 1 hour or more, that is, terpene oil until the pine oil is entirely and evenly distributed and penetrated into the wood, and taking the wood out from the pine oil then laying the wood into sand for 24 hours or more. Finally, the wood from the sand should be sufficiently dried.
