Abstract

A process of forming a protection layer on the bricks of feeding side of a converter, which comprises the following steps: (a) providing a converter containing slag; (b) inclining the converter to allow the slag therein to flow out leaving a layer of viscous slag on the inner wall of the converter; (c) throwing pig irons, or hot briquetted irons, or their mixture into the inclined converter; (d) rotating the inclined converter to enable complete mixing between the pig irons or hot briquetted irons and the slag so as to form a protection layer on the inner wall of the converter.
