Dry-cleaning shampoos are compositions that cleanse the hair without washing with water. The product provides a suitable product that provides a cleansing sensation and appearance on the day that it may be possible to clean the hair due to lack of time or lack of available water.

GNPD [Internet] Mintel November 2011 (2011-11) "Instant Dry Shampoo" XP002683579 database accession number 1669958 discloses a dry-cleaning shampoo including starch octenyl succinate, cerium oxide and glycerin . The composition also includes butylene glycol.

Despite the prior art, there is still a need for improved dry cleaning shampoos.

Accordingly, in a first aspect, the present invention provides a dry clean shampoo comprising a matrix comprising a sebum absorbent and propylene glycol, and a propellant.

The dry cleansing shampoo according to the present invention provides a cleansing product that does not leave a white residue on the hair.

The substrate preferably comprises from 5 to 20% by weight of the composition.

The matrix preferably comprises from 2 to 75% by weight of the sebum absorbent of the substrate.

The sebum absorbing agent is preferably a starch or a derivative thereof. The sebum absorbent is better selected From corn starch, tapioca starch, rice starch and modified starch. A preferred modified starch is aluminum starch octenyl succinate.

Dry-cleaning shampoos preferably comprise an oil, preferably from 0.1 to 5% by weight of the substrate.

The oil is preferably isopropyl myristate, benzyl alcohol, PPG-3 benzyl ether myristate. The best is isopropyl myristate.

The dry scrub shampoo preferably comprises an anti-caking agent, preferably cerium oxide. The anti-caking agent is preferably present in an amount of from 0.1 to 1% by weight of the substrate.

Propylene glycol is preferably present in an amount of from 0.5 to 5% by weight of the substrate.

In the compositions according to the invention, propylene glycol reduces or prevents the deposition of white residue on the hair. This is especially problematic for black-haired users.

The alcohol is preferably present in an amount of from 0.5 to 20% by weight of the composition. Suitable alcohols include ethanol.

The compositions of the present invention also include a propellant that rapidly suspends the matrix prior to mixing and facilitates its discharge from the container.

The composition is stored in a pressurized container.

Suitable propellants are well known in the art and include butane, isobutylene and propane.

In a second aspect, the invention provides the use of propylene glycol to reduce or avoid white markings in dry clean shampoos according to the first aspect.

Figure 1 shows a test panel for assessing the ability of a test composition to reduce white markings.

The panel was black and the white marker deposited in Example A was significantly more than Example 1.

The dry cleaning shampoo composition comprising butylene glycol was compared to white deposits and sebum removal of dry clean shampoo containing propylene glycol.

Each formulation was sprayed onto black bricks for 3 seconds and the bricks are provided in Figure 1. The white marker deposited on the composition comprising butylene glycol was significantly more than the same composition comprising propylene glycol.

Sebum removal

The sebum removal benefits of each formulation were evaluated.

The sebum level at the time of hair conversion was measured using a sebum meter.

The results clearly show that the amount of sebum removed by the composition comprising polypropylene glycol is greater than the composition comprising the substituted butanediol.

Claims (11)

A dry-cleaning shampoo comprising a matrix comprising a sebum absorbing agent and 0.5 to 5% by weight of propylene glycol of the substrate, and a propellant. The dry-cleaning shampoo of claim 1, wherein the substrate comprises from 5 to 20% by weight of the composition. A dry-cleaning shampoo according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the matrix comprises from 2 to 75% by weight of the sebum absorbent of the substrate. The dry-cleaning shampoo according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the sebum absorbent is starch or a derivative thereof. A dry-cleaning shampoo according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the sebum absorbent is selected from the group consisting of corn starch, tapioca starch, rice starch, and modified corn starch. A dry cleaning shampoo according to any of the preceding claims, which comprises an oil. A dry-cleaning shampoo according to any of the preceding claims, which comprises from 0.1 to 5% by weight of oil. The dry-cleaning shampoo of claim 5, wherein the oil is isopropyl myristate. A dry-cleaning shampoo according to any of the preceding claims, which comprises an anti-caking agent. The dry-cleaning shampoo of claim 8, wherein the anti-caking agent is cerium oxide. A propylene glycol is used in the dry-cleaning shampoo of any one of claims 1 to 10 to reduce the use of white markings.
