Abstract

There is provided a measurement system for knife tip and diameter of miniature knife tool, which primarily makes use of parallel light beams in cooperation with photo sensors to adopt knife edge scanning and diffracting for measuring the relation ratio of the position of knife tool under test to the light intensity distribution, so as to determine the knife tip position and knife diameter of the miniature knife tool. Therefore, by using the four-quadrant sensor for detecting the energy distribution caused by knife diameter diffraction, it is able to measure a measurement resolution of 0.2 &mgr;m in the coordinate space of X and Y axes. Furthermore, by using the knife-edge scanning, it is able to detect a measurement resolution of 0.75 &mgr;m in the coordinate space of Z axis. In comparison with the typical measurement system, the present measurement system is provided with higher measurement precision, simple structure, low cost, and easy operation. Accordingly, with the use of the present measurement system, the miniature knife tool is able to promote the measurement precision, decrease the manual detection cost and human error, and increase the detection efficiency.
