Abstract

A housing is disclosed which includes a plastic substrate and a decorative film. The substrate is integrally formed by a metal member and a plastic member. The metal member and the plastic member together define a surface of the substrate whereon the decorative film formed. The decorative film includes a primer coating directly formed on the substrate surface, a non-conductive vacuum coating layer formed on the primer coating, and a transparent overcoat formed on the non-conductive vacuum coating layer. The present housing has better mechanical strength and can satisfy the radio frequency requirement of electric device. Furthermore, the housing has coincident appearance of bright metal. A method of making such housing is also provided.
