Abstract
This invention relates to an arrangement with a high-pressure discharge-lamp (1) and an electronic ballast (2), where the ballast (2) is integrated in the high-pressure discharge-lamp (1) and has a protection- and monitor-device (23; IC1), which is formed to detect ignition-tests that will not lead to ignition of the high-pressure discharge-lamp (1) and which, in an unsuccessful ignition-test, will transfer the ballast (2) into a safety mode for a pre-givable interval. This invention also relates to a method for operating a high-pressure discharge-lamp (1).
