Abstract

Disclosed is a method for producing a material for forming a protective film for organic EL devices which is thinner than conventional protective films and enables to suppress generation or growth of dark spots in organic EL devices, thereby allowing the organic EL devices to perform light-emitting functions effectively. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing a material for forming a protective film for organic EL devices which is composed of a resin liquid. This method comprises a first step for obtaining a resin liquid by mixing a resin component with a solvent, and a second step wherein the resin liquid obtained in the first step is adjusted so that it contains foreign particles having an average particle diameter of not less than 0.5 m at a rate of 5 particles/mL or less.
