Abstract

This invention relates to an apparatus for fabrication of carbon nanotube array. The apparatus includes a reaction chamber, a local heating device for heating a catalyst loaded in the reaction chamber, and a gaseous carbon supply device for providing a gaseous carbon source on a upstream position of the catalyst loaded in the reaction chamber. The local heating device can form a moderate temperature gradient whereby the catalyst is situated, and the gaseous carbon supply device can provide an additional gaseous carbon for nanotubes growth. Therefore, this invention can achieve quick growth of carbon nanotube arrays and an array of single-walled carbon nanotube array is obtained. The method for fabrication a carbon nanotube array is also provided.
