Abstract

Disclosed is a method for treating VOCs by electrolysis and oxidization. The electrolytic reduction efficiency of ferric ions is elevated by disturbance in the reactor which sustains a high concentration of ferric ions in the system and improves the COD removal efficiency as a result. The method comprises (a) the removal of VOCs by a scrubber; (b) feeding the wash to an electrolyzing/oxidizing reactor which containing ferric ion; (c) controlling the pH value of the waste water to less than 2.5 and and oxidizing the VOCs by continuously adding hydrogen peroxide to said reactor; and (d) recycling the treated wash to said scrubber.
