Abstract

The present invention provides a 490 MPa grade high strength weldable structural steel having excellent in high temperature strength at more than 600 DEG C and less than 800 DEG C and a method of producing the same. This high strength weldable structural steel contains, in mass, C at more than 0.005% and less than 0.040%, Si at less than 0.5%, Mn at less than 0.5%, P at less than 0.02%, S at less than 0.01%, Mo at 0.3 - 1.5%, Nb at 0.03 - 0.15%, Al at less than 0.06%, N at less than 0.006%, and further contains one or more of Cu, Ni, Cr, V, Ti, Ca, REM or Mg, if necessary, and satisfy the welding crack sensitivity equation of P CM = C+ Si/30 + Mn/20 + Cu/20 + Ni/60 + Cr/20 + Mo/15 + V/10 + 5B < 0.15, and without containing B, and the remainder Fe and unavoidable impurities, and further the microstructure of this high strength weldable structural steel has a mixed structure composed of ferrite and bainite, where the ratio of bainite is 20 - 90%.
