Abstract

To provide a liquid crystal display device which could enlarge the contrast viewing angle on the all direction of up and down, left and right sides. Relate to a liquid crystal display device comprising: a pair substrates which at least one having electrode and dispose on the opposition, a liquid crystal layer disposed around the substrates, and a fisrt polarizing plate disposed on the outside of the liquid crystal layer. The product Δn x d of the thickness d(μm) of the liquid crystal mulitipled to the refraction anisotropy Δn is 0.2 to 1.2μm, the alignment condition of the liquid crystal layer is charged by applying elecrtric field of at least more than 2 value; and the average alignment inclination angle as regarding to the said substrate of the said liquid crystal layer is different while the electric field is applied or not. The said polarizing plate comprises: polarizing membrane; a pair protecting membrane disposed to clip the said polarizing membrane; a optical anisotropy layer which is near the said protecting membrane outside of the said liquid crystal layer, and the disc compound is hrbrid-alignmented. At least one of the said protecting membranes is satisfied the formula 250-Re(633) ≤ Rth ≤ 25+Re(633).
