Abstract
A fabricating method for an optical fiber quartz glass base material in the present invention is described. The characteristic of the present invention is by using the following steps to make an adjustment and produce high density porous base material. The steps include a plurality of burners disposed along a core glass rod are traversed and the soot is deposited on the surface of the core glass rod by OVD method so as to produce a porous base material, the average deposited thickness of the soot is equal to or larger than 0.5 mm and the average volume density of that is equal to or larger than 0.6 g/cm3. In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the average deposited thickness of the soot is between 0.5~1.0 mm. Meanwhile, by adjusting the move velocity of the burners and the supplies of the raw material gas and the burning gas can fix the average deposited thickness in the range of 0.5~1.0 mm.
