Abstract

The electric power storage system of the present invention is such that, when the output voltage of an electric double-layer capacitor (EDLC) unit is out of an allowable range of the input voltage of the DC-AC inverter, an operation stop control circuit controls a change-over device in such a manner that the output voltage of the EDLC unit is supplied via the DC-DC converter, and supplies a DC output voltage to a DC-AC inverter, so that even if the output voltage of a power storage means varies, a stable voltage can be supplied from the DC-AC inverter means to a load. On the other hand, when the output voltage of the EDLC unit is within the allowable range of the input voltage of the DC-AC inverter, the operation stop control circuit controls the change-over device in such a manner that the output voltage of the EDLC unit is supplied to the DC-AC inverter, and makes the DC-DC converter inactive, so that a power loss associated with the operation of the DC-DC converter means is reduced, thereby allowing the power to be efficiently supplied to a load.
