Abstract

This invention provides an electrical discharge surface treatment device, wherein a powder mould article made of a metal powder, a powder of a metal compound or a ceramics powder is formed as an electrode, and a discharge in pulse is generated between the electrode and a work, by the discharge energy, a film composed of an electrode material or a reactant of the electrode material due to the discharge energy , is formed on the work surface, which comprises : a main power source (4) for flowing electric current into inter-electrode while the discharge is occurred, an auxiliary power supply for increasing non-load voltage applied into the inter-electrode between the electrode (1) and the work (2) before discharging, a discharge detection means (12) for detecting the discharge occurrence by comparing the inter-electrode voltage and the discharge detection voltage which is set to a value slightly lower than the voltage of the main power source (4), and a discharge control means (11) for stopping voltage application and finishing the discharge pulse after the predetermined time while the discharge is detected by the discharge detection means (12).
