Claims (19)

A compound represented by the formula (I): (chemical formula) (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of that compound, in which (a) R1, R2, R3 and R4 are the same or different and each group is a hydrogen atom or a C1-6 alkyl group; X1 is a C1-6 alkyl group in which the C1-6 alkyl group may be replaced by 1 to 3 hydroxyl groups or a C1-6 alkyl group in which the C1-6 alkyl group may be replaced by 1 to 3 hydroxyl groups or a C3-13 cycloalkyl group formed from the combination of 2 C1-6 alkyl groups attached to the same carbon atom of the C1-6 alkyl group; Xa is a methoxy or fluorine atom; Xb is an oxygen atom or methylene group, provided that Xb is only an oxygen atom when Xa is a methoxy; (a) Ar1-X1- is a C3-8 cycloalkyl condense with the benzene ring, in which one methylene group on the C3-8 cycloalkyl group may be replaced by an oxygen atom, the C3-8 cycloalkyl group may be replaced by one to three hydroxyl groups and/or C1-6 alkyl groups, and the benzene ring may be replaced by one to three substituents selected from substituent A1; and R1, R2, R3, R4, Xa, and Xb have the same meaning as defined in (a); (c) one R1 and R2 and one R3 and R4 are the same or different and each is a hydrogen atom or a C1-6 alkyl group; (d) Ar1-X1- and R4, combined with the nitrogen atom to which those groups are attached, form a C3-8 cycloalkyl group, which may be replaced by a chosen substituent 1 to 3 from substituent A1; and X1, Xa, Xb, and Ar1 have the same meaning as defined in (a) or (b); (d) Ar1-X1- and R4, combined with the nitrogen atom to which Ar1-X1- is attached and the carbon atom to which R4 is attached, form a heterocyclic group with 4- to 8-member nitrogen, which may be replaced by an aryl or pyridinyl group. A methylene group on a heterocyclic group with a 4- to 8- nitrogen member may be replaced by a methylene group which is replaced by 1 or 2 substituents selected from substituent A1, a vinyline group which may be replaced by 1 or 2 substituents selected from substituent A1, an oxygen atom or an imino group which may be replaced by a substituent selected from substituent A1, and an aryl or pyridinyl group which may be replaced by 1 to 3 substituents selected from substituent A1; Xb is the oxygen atom; and R1, R2, R3, and Xa have the same meanings as defined in (a) and (b); (e) R1 and R2, combined with the carboxylate to which they are attached, become C3-8 cycloalkyl groups; and R3, R4, X1, Xa, Xb, and Ar1 have the same meanings as defined in (a) and (b); or (f) R3 and R4, combined with the carbon atom to which those groups are attached, become the C3-8 cycloalkyl group; And R1, R2, X1, Xa, Xb, and Ar1 have the same meanings as defined in (a) and (b). Substrate A1: (1) halogen atom, (2) hydroxyl group, (3) cyano group, (4) C3-8 cycloalkyl group, (5) C3-8 cycloalkoxy group, (6) C1-6 alkyl group, in which C1-6 alkyl group is replaced by 1 to 5 halogen atoms or 1 to 3 C1-6 alkoxy groups, (7) amino group which may be replaced by 1 or 2 C1-6 alkyl groups, in which C1-6 alkyl groups may be replaced by 1 to 5 halogen atoms, (8) C1-6 alkoxy group, in which C1-6 alkoxy groups may be replaced by 1 to 5 halogen atoms. 5 atoms, and (9) carbamoyl groups, which may be replaced by 1 or 2 alkyl C1-6 groups, in which the alkyl C1-6 groups may be replaced by 1 to 3 halogen atoms)
