10 pages or any other device containing instructions which can be executed by such processor, but not limited to these devices. In other forms of this invention, cross-interference between the transmission imaging subsystem and the backscatter imaging subsystem is reduced by a combination of parallel vanes, shielding material and backscatter detector orientation as shown in System 100 in Figure 3, where object 120 is examined, such as packaging or a bag. It is first conveyed via conveyor belt 123 through a fan-shaped X-ray beam 125. Note the following improvements over the system in Figure 1: (a) The sensitive surface of the backscatter detector 140 can be angled toward the point 143 from which the backscatter signal is emitted. This geometry maximizes the detection of backscatter signals after the backscatter beam 135 while minimizing the detection of cross-interference from the transmission beam. This geometry also eliminates the need for a parallel adjuster vane on the left detector. All other surfaces 175 of the backscatter detector may be shielded with a shielding material, such as lead, to minimize the detection of residual X-rays. (b) A single vertical vane 150 shields the sensitive face of the right backscatter detector from detecting scattered radiation from the transmission beam 125. (c) Lead shielding 170 under conveyor belt 123 near the transmission beam shields the left backscatter detector 140 from detecting scattered radiation from the transmission beam. (d) A parallel adjuster 180 in front of the transmission detector prevents scattered radiation from the transmission beam exiting the front face of the transmission detector 130 from reaching the backscatter detector 140. Frame ratio correction. Because the transmit and scattered images are obtained using two different methods, the images generally have different frame ratios. Therefore, the same object can appear as ------------ ------21/03/2018------(OCR) Page 1 of 4 pages. Claims 1. A system for object detection, whereby the system has the following components: a.
