A window covering having open and closed positions, comprising: a top track, a bottom track, a plurality of panels positioned between the top and bottom tracks, and a first string member and a second string member; the top track comprising a tilting mechanism for raising and lowering the first string member independently of the second string member; each plurality of panels folded upon themselves to form a first longitudinal section and a second longitudinal section that overlap each other, with the first longitudinal section being longer than the second longitudinal section, with the first longitudinal section having a first rear edge that is detachably fixed to the first string member, and the second longitudinal section having a second rear edge that is detachably fixed to the second string member. Each panel defines a curved front edge section opposite the first and second rear edge sections, and each panel is movable from the open to the closed position by causing the first string member to move vertically relative to the second string member and tilting the longitudinal section.
