The process for selectively extracting scandium from ores containing scandium, fluorine, tantalum, and/or niobium consists of the following steps: a1) Reacting the ore waste with a solution of a first inorganic acid for a period of time under sufficient temperature and pressure to dissolve at least a portion of the tantalum and niobium from the starting material, creating a solution containing valuable tantalum and niobium metals and a solid waste containing valuable fluorine and scandium metals, with at least some remaining valuable tantalum and niobium metals; a2) Separation and drying of the solid waste formed in step a1; a3) Reacting the solid waste from step a2) with a second inorganic acid containing sulfuric acid for a period of time under sufficient temperature and pressure to release hydrogen fluoride gas and produce a sulfated material containing valuable scandium metals and at least some remaining valuable tantalum and niobium metals. Some of the remaining valuable fluorine metal compounds are present in small amounts, and a4) the leaching of sulfated material to dissolve the valuable scandium metal compounds in the sulfated material, resulting in the aqueous solution containing the valuable scandium metal compounds and a solid phase, which at least partially retains valuable scandium metal compounds; and b) selective extraction of valuable scandium metal compounds from the aqueous solution.

A process for selectively extracting valuable scandium compounds from starting materials containing scandium, fluorine, tantalum, and/or niobium. This process consists of the following steps: a1) Reacting the starting materials with a first inorganic acid solution for a specified period under sufficient temperature and pressure to dissolve at least a portion of the tantalum and niobium from the starting materials, creating a solution containing valuable tantalum and niobium compounds and a solid residue containing valuable fluorine and scandium compounds, with at least some remaining valuable tantalum and niobium compounds; a2) Separation and drying of the solid residue; a3) Reacting the solid residue with a second inorganic acid containing sulfuric acid for a specified period under sufficient temperature and pressure to release hydrogen fluoride gas and produce a sulfated material containing valuable scandium compounds, with at least some remaining valuable fluorine and niobium compounds. The study investigated the following: a) the leaching of sulfated material to dissolve the valuable scandium present in the sulfated material, resulting in an aqueous solution containing valuable scandium and phen, a solid containing at least some residual scandium; and b) the selective extraction of valuable scandium from the aqueous solution.

The process consists of the following steps: a) Reacting the starting materials with a solution of a first inorganic acid for a period of time under sufficient temperature and pressure to dissolve at least a portion of the tantalum or niobium precious metals from the starting materials; b) Separation and drying of the insoluble material; c) Reacting the insoluble material from step b) with a second inorganic acid containing sulfuric acid for a period of time under sufficient temperature and pressure to release hydrogen fluoride gas and form a sulfated material; d) Eluution of the sulfated material from step c) to dissolve at least a portion of the precious metals present in it and form an aqueous solution containing the dissolved precious metals and a solid phase containing at least some remaining dissolved precious metals; and e) Selective extraction of the dissolved precious metals from the aqueous solution.

The process consists of the following steps: a) Reacting the tailings with a sulfuric acid solution to dissolve at least a portion of the tantalum or niobium precious metals from the ore and leaving insoluble material; b) Separating the insoluble material from step a); c) Separating and removing fluorine precious metals from the tailings by reacting the insoluble material from step b) with sulfuric acid for a period of time and under sufficient temperature and pressure to release hydrogen fluoride gas and to leave sulfated material; d) Eluting the sulfated material from step c) in water to dissolve at least a portion of the scandium precious metals present in it and leaving an aqueous solution containing the dissolved scandium precious metals and a solid phase containing at least some remaining scandium precious metals. The process involves: e) selective extraction of valuable scandium compounds dissolved in the aqueous solution formed in step d) by contacting the aqueous solution with sodium hydroxide separator to form a solid phase containing valuable scandium compounds, and separating the solid phase from the remaining aqueous solution; and f) drying and separating the valuable scandium compounds.
