Claims

1. A method for controlling unwanted plant growth involves applying substances with the following formulas in quantities present to those plants, where: n is 0, 1, 2, or 3; R is H or alkyl; and R1 is halogen, nitro, methyl, halomethyl, methoxy, halomethoxy, or ethoxy. This method is considered harmless to maize.

2. Method of Claim 1, where n is O, R is H, and R1 is chlorine.

3. Method of Claim 1, where n is O, R is H, and R1 is chlorine.

4. A herbicide mixture for grasses that is considered harmless to maize, consisting of A) the compounds described in Claim 1 in quantities that are effective in controlling weeds and B) an agriculturally applicable vector.

5. A mixture of claim 4 in which component A) is n = O, R = H, and R1 = chlorine.

6. A mixture of claim 4 in which component A) n is O, R is methyl, and R1 is chlorine. (10 claims, 1 page, - image)
