Description
A method for the preparation of synthetic smel from pyridine bases and aldehydes is proposed. Methods are known for producing synthetic resins by condensation of pyridine bases boiling at 169-237 ° C with aldehydes (e.g. formaldehyde) in the presence of acidic or alkaline catalysts.
The proposed method for the preparation of synthetic resins differs from the known ones in that furfural is used as an aldehyde, which is condensed with pyridine bases by known methods.
112%.Example. Take 16, 6 g fraction of pyridine bases, boiling at 180-200 °, with beats. at. 0.9930 p 1.4997; 19.74 g of furfural of a freshly distilled boiling point of 160-162 ° and 4.32 g of nitric acid with a specific weight of 1.37. First, nitric acid is gradually added to the pyridine bases. The temperature of the mixture rises to 48 °. After 5 minutes add furfural in portions. When furfural is added, the temperature first rises to 52 °, then drops to 38 °. The reaction mixture in a flask with reflux is placed in a boiling water bath for 3 hours. The initial mixture had a ruby red color and a glycerin-like consistency. After soaking in a water bath, a black-colored resin is formed, which resembles dough in consistency. The hot resin is washed in water having 90 ° by kneading it. After that, the resin is coated with a layer of 0.5 cm and dried in a drying cabinet at 100 ° for 1 hour. When drying is over, the resin is drawn into thin threads up to 90 cm long. After the resin, the resin in air at 20 ° becomes solid and is ground to powder. The weight of the dry resin is 18.6 g. Based on the reacted pyridine bases, this is 112%.
The obtained resin has a black color with a reddish tinge, its specific weight is 0.98, a softening temperature in the capillary is 86 °, a melting point in the capillary is 109 °, the polymerization rate is resin
Она растворима в фурфуроле, анилине, нитробензоле, ацетоне и бромистом этилене и нерастворима в воде, бензине, спирте и бензоле.freezes with a crust at 160 ° after 3 min. 30 sec., But at the same time it remains soluble in cold aniline and furfurol. After keeping the resin at 160 ° in TeiteHiie 20 min. it becomes insoluble in cold aniline and furfural, but partially soluble in boiling ones. After holding it at 160 ° for 49 min. from the beginning of the experiment, the resin becomes insoluble in boiling, their aniline and furfural. Therefore, the resin belongs to a larger thermoset. It is soluble in furfural, aniline, nitrobenzene, acetone and ethylene bromide and is insoluble in water, gasoline, alcohol and benzene.
Chemical analysis of resin
Analysis of the solution in which the resin cubes were placed was made after 5 days.
The described method allows to obtain resins suitable for lacquers and plastics using relatively cheap products.
