Abstract

FIELD: gas treatment. SUBSTANCE: method involves absorption by alkaline absorbing solution in presence of oxidation catalyst followed by regeneration of exhausted absorbent. Method is distinguished by that, as absorbent, sodium carbonate and sulfur are used and regeneration is carried out after preliminary keeping of exhausted absorbing solution at 50-60 C for 5-120 min followed by blowing with air. Concentration of sulfur in absorbing solution is maintained at the level 0.5 to 1.0 g/l, and, as oxidation catalyst, cobalt polyphthalocyanine is used. EFFECT: reduced cost and enabled commercial sulfur production.
