Окксь хрома обладает высокой температурой плавлени  (2275°) и может примен тьс  как огнеупорный материал, имеющий, нар ду с высокой огнеупорностью, значительную электропроводность. Однако из окиси хрома без до бавок, не удаетс  изготовить плотные и механически прочные издели , даже при температуре обжига 1500-1600°.
