Abstract

A seal has a base (1) made of rubber and a sealing edge (2) with an antifriction coating (3) provided on its surface; this coating is made of fluoroorganic compounds chemically bonded with the base (1) and has a thickness of from 10<-2> to 1.0 mu m. The seal may be used in hermetic joints, e.g. in packing assemblies of automobile units, sealing members of pumps. <IMAGE>
