Изобретение относитс  к поверхностнбЙ термообработке черных металлов и наиболее эффективно может быть исполь™ эовано при изготовлении валков горйчей и теплой прокатки диаметрами 420 мм, 540 мм и 600 мм. Известен способ термической обработк валков гор чей прокатки из стали типа 5Х 5М1ФС Ц.Этот способ включает объем ную закалку на вторичную твердость ивысо кий отпуск. Передзакалкой сталь предварительно нагревают в печах. Врем  печного на- грева составл ет 26-3О часов на одну садку , котора  состоит из 6 штук валков диаметром 420 мм. Закалку производ т о от 10 00-1070° С в масло с последующим отпуском при 53 0-56О С, температура второго отпуска 500-520С. Недостатками известного способа термической обработки валков  вл ютс  длительность нагрева валков в печах и больша  трудоемкость из-за различных требований по твердости на шейке и бочке валка , что требует дополнительной изол ции шеек, сравнительно небольша  .скорость охлаждени  в области температур промежуточного превращени . Кроме того, с течением времени закаливающа  способность масла снижаетс , а в результате окислени  и термического распада оно тер ет свою прозрачность, загустевает и становитс  непригодным дл  закалки.
