Description
(54) PAIRING MASS
The invention relates to compositions of refractory masses, mainly for lining steel casting ladles. Known ramming mass, including quartz sand and clay refractory tl. The disadvantage of this ramming mass is the lack of desulfurization and modifying ability. The aim of the invention is to provide the liner with modifying and desulfurizing properties. This is achieved by the fact that the padded mass, including quartz sand and refractory clay, additionally contains metallic magnesium powder in the following ratio, wt.%: Quartz sand 54-61 Refractory clay 15-18 Magnesium metallic powder 24-28 Padded modifying mass with desulfurization ability Prepare a simple mixing of the components and fill the bottom surface with a steel-iron-casting ladle in any way (manually, with a pneumatic hammer). The liquid metal (steel, cast iron) is poured into a ladle dried at a temperature of 200250 with. As a result of heating of the lining, the magnesium evaporates and enters the liquid metal, in connection with which the metal is modified and desulfurized, ensuring an increase in its mechanical properties. The compositions of printed modifying mixtures and their properties are presented in Table 1. Each of the mixtures is prepared separately and tested for the degree of desulfurization of the pig iron. The essence of testing each mixture was as follows. The mixture is applied to a portion of the lining surface of a 10 kg filling cage that is to come in contact with the liquid metal, then the mixture is compacted to hardness and dried at a temperature no higher than when there is no open flame, in order to avoid oxidation of the metallic magnesium ramming mass. When the ladle is filled with liquid iron and when the metal is held in the ladle, the molten iron interacts with the padding modifying layer, the latter is heated to a temperature above the evaporation temperature of magnesium, and therefore the intense evaporation of magnesium begins. Magnesium in the form of vapor enters the molten iron.
In addition, there is some melting of the surface of the ramming modifying layer and part of the magnesium, melted and then evaporated, enters the liquid iron. As a result of the treatment of sid cast iron with magnesium vapors, the formation of refractory
Magnesium sulphides in the pig iron that float to the slag, and therefore the sulfur content in the pig iron is reduced.
В табл.2 показано повышение механических свойств чугуна в результате его обессеривatfH .Table 2 shows the increase in the mechanical properties of cast iron as a result of its desulfurization material.
