Description
The proposed method for producing sulfuric acid is a development of the method proposed in the author's certificate Ka 37078, which is based on mixing equimolecular amounts of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides at temperatures above 100 ° C in a single-tower apparatus and does not allow oleum, since for the denitration of the acid that irrigates Glover, a considerable amount of water, which dilutes the acid, is required, in which case evaporation is necessary.
The present proposal, which aims to eliminate this drawback and to allow, without resorting to evaporation, to produce sulfuric acid of high concentrations — vitriol oil and oleum, is as follows.
At the temperature above 200, equal volumes of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are introduced into the reaction chamber, without the use of water or water vapor, and the liberated oxygen easily combines with the sulfur dioxide to form sulfuric anhydride. Hot gases from the reaction chamber are directed through a heat exchanger, where they are somewhat cooled, to a scrubber or other washing or absorbing apparatus, in which they are washed with weak sulfuric acid heated to a temperature above 150 which temperature is maintained in order to eliminate the absorption of nitric oxide with sulfuric acid that irrigates scrubber. This latter, absorbing sulfuric anhydride, gradually concentrates, reaching the strength of vitriol oil and oleum. The remaining gases after scrubbing in the scrubber are sucked out of it by an injector or other apparatus, mixed on the way in gas pipelines with air or oxygen, or air pre-enriched with oxygen, and, by restoring their oxidative properties, are injected into the reaction chamber to mix with sulfur dioxide and form new quantities of sulfuric anhydride. In some cases, the process of regenerating the oxidizing properties of exhaust gases is more convenient to produce not in gas pipelines, but in a special chamber installed on the path between the compressor and the reaction chamber. This establishes a continuous process for the formation of sulfuric acid, which does not require absorbing devices or devices for denitration of the solutions obtained, since at high temperatures used, nitrogen oxides do not dissolve in sulfuric acid, nor do they form nitroses, which has been verified experimentally.
Дл очистки работающих газов от примесей, вносимых сернистым газом и кислородом воздуха, необходима периодическа или непрерывна их очистка, которую можно производить помощью пропускани этих газов через особый аппарат дл поглощени кислородных соединений азота и выделени „их из раствора за счет тепла теплообменника .To purify working gases from impurities introduced by sulfur dioxide and air oxygen, they must be periodically or continuously cleaned, which can be carried out by passing these gases through a special apparatus to absorb nitrogen oxygen compounds and release them from the solution due to the heat of the heat exchanger.
The proposed process can also be carried out on existing sulfuric acid plants by mixing nitrogen oxides obtained by diluting with water and simultaneously heating nitrosis with sulfur dioxide, for example, in the first Glover, not irrigating it, but washing it with sulfuric acid in the second Glover to remove sulfur and the dihydride. Then nitric oxide should be oxidized by one of the existing methods, absorbed in the towers of Gay-Lussac and denitrated nitrose in a denitrator.
