Description

The proposed method of preserving wood consists of impregnating wood with a saturated solution of ammonium polysulfur and consists of the following successive processes: in a tank lined with lead and equipped with a stirrer, about half of the required amount of sulfuric iron {Fc S) or calcium sulphate (C S) and the required amount of sulfuric acid; The hydrogen sulfide released is discharged into an ammonia tank, in which sulfur is previously placed; as ammonium sulphide is formed, sulfur begins to dissolve in it; the existing mixer is very often set in motion, which contributes to the rapid dissolution of sulfur. When all the sulphurous iron has dissolved in the first tank, the iron sulphate solution contained in it is discharged and the remaining portion of Fe S is added to the SO, and the liberated // 2 S is again introduced into the ammonia tank; the process of formation // 2 5 can be conducted not in two, but in three or more receptions. According to the author, a highly concentrated, multi-sulfur ammonium is obtained by such a sequential introduction into the second tank N., S and by stirring sulfur. Since at the beginning of the reaction of the formation of S, S is very vigorous, it is possible to arrange a device so that the sulphurous iron or sulfuric acid is introduced in small amounts, then the reaction proceeds more evenly. The resulting concentrated multi-sulphurous ammonium, depending on the species and the dryness of the tree, is diluted with water and introduced into the tank with the tree to be impregnated. Depending on the thickness and type of wood, impregnation lasts from 2 to 4 hours for boards, from 2 to 3 or more days for thick decks. After the wood has been impregnated, the drained liquid is added to the fresh one and again goes to work. The tree is then placed outdoors in a canopy to dry; For speeding up, you can use any of the existing wood drying methods. its conservation, characterized in that the wood is treated with an aqueous solution of ammonium polysulfur.
