Description

This invention relates to ferroalloy production.
In the known ore-smelting electric furnaces for the smelting of ferroalloys, calcium carbide and others, the current is supplied to two or three electrodes, or to one electrode and the bottom. Industry-accepted current densities on the carbon material of the upper electrode are less than 2 A / cm, and a current with a density of not more than 1 A / cm is supplied to the melt in electric furnaces with the bottom (bottom) electrode. Consequently, the current density supplied to the melt is not more than 0.5 of the current density in the upper electrode. An increase in the voltage in the furnaces beyond the optimum due to an increase in the interelectrode gap leads to disruption of normal operation: crucibles are narrowed, slag production ceases, cold metal is exhausted, furnaces are clogged with slag, etc. All this speaks of a decrease in temperature in the lower part of the furnace.
The aim of the invention is to use a higher voltage and therefore a lower current strength while maintaining the normal conditions of the smelting process. This is achieved by the fact that in the smelting process the density
подводимого к расплаву тока составл ет 0,7- 10,0 плотности тока в верхнем электроде.the current supplied to the melt is 0.7 to 10.0 of the current density in the upper electrode.
In furnaces with two or more upper electrodes, the electrical circuit is closed through
расплав и общий токопровод из углеродсодержащего материала.melt and common conductor from carbon-containing material.
When implementing the proposed method, a significant amount of energy is transferred from the upper part of the furnace to the lower part,
При этом улучшаютс услови нормальной работы печи при увеличенном против обычного межэлектродном промежутке, а следовательно и напр жении.due to which the temperature rises here. At the same time, the conditions of the normal operation of the furnace are improved with an increased gap between the conventional electrode gap and, therefore, the voltage.
