Известен способ определени  глубины залегани  дефекта при помощи двухкапальпого иопизационного дефектоскопа. Однако известный способ не позвол ет автоматизировать процесс определени . Целью изобретени   вл етс  автоматизаци  процесса определени  глубины залегани  дефекта . Дл  этого в двухканальном ионизационном дефектоскопе оси коллиматоров детекторов располагают под острым углом, в вершине которого помещают источник излучени , и при перемещении издели  в направлении, перпендикул рном биссектрисе острого угла, измер ют врем  между моментами регистрации дефекта первым и вторым детекторами излучени , по величине которого суд т о глубине залегани  дефекта.
