Abstract
1325753 Photo-electric absorption analysis BAXTER LABORATORIES Inc 5 Nov 1970 [6 Nov 1969(2)] 52596/70 Heading G1A In an apparatus for testing the radiation absorption characteristics of a test material 222, radiation passing through the material in one direction is redirected through the material by a retro-reflector 226 and is finally directed to a photo-cell 232 via a beam splitter 220. As shown, a moving photographic film 224 is scanned, and this scanning may also be achieved by having a rotating mirror drum, Fig. 8 (not shown) or oscillating mirror in the light path to a stationary film. The beam splitter 220 and film 222 may be inclined to one another, Fig. 7 (not shown) so that light specularly reflected from the film surface is not received by the photo-cell. The light need not be scanned across the test object, which may be a fluid in a cuvette. For such fluid testing, the cuvette may be one of a series which are moved up and down or rotated during inspection, and in this application the retro-reflector is preferably curved, Fig. 5 (not shown).
