Description
2.The invention relates to methods for producing zirconia, which can be used, for example, as a polishing material. A known method for producing zirconia dioxide is used to treat zirconium tetrachloride vapor, and water when heated to 150-300 ° C. Pr, and this water vapor take in the amount of more than 2 mol per 1 mol of zirconium tetrachloride. The reaction product (hydrolysis) is calcined at a temperature of about 1000 ° C. The final product is coarse carbon dioxide. At the same time, the purity of the final product is not very high, as well as the fact that coarse-grained zirconia is obtained (which allows Tie to be used as a polishing material: white). According to the proposed method, to obtain a gonodisperse final product and increase its purity, the zirconium tetrachloride is treated with water at a temperature below 150 ° C. 9-0.1 g / slgz high purity (the content of iron impurities in it is 0.04%). Example. 100 weight. including zirconium tetrachloride, is loaded into a rotating quartz tube and treated at 125 ° C with water vapor (15.5 wt. h). The resulting product is oxychloride. Zirconium with a ratio of Cl: Zr 2.2 and, 9 calcined. In a muffle furnace 2 hours nr: and temperature. Get 39 weight. including ZrOo with a bulk weight of 9 g / cm3 and iron content in the range of 0.04-0.08%. The hydrogen chloride released during calcination and the bunches of zirconium tetrachloride are sent to a trapping system. The subject of the invention. A method for producing zirconium dioxide by treating zirconium tetrachloride with steam of water followed by calcining the reaction product, characterized in that, in order to obtain a fine final product and increase its purity, tetrachloride and zirconium water vapor are treated at a temperature below 150 ° C, a molar ratio of water vapor to zirconium tetrachloride, less than 2.
