A electric iron with a handle with a movable part is known, which provides for connection of the heater to the mains when it is applied to the handle.

The inconvenience of using such an iron is the need to act on the handle of the iron before it reaches the operating temperature.

The closest technical solution is an electric iron containing a metal sole, a heating element, a casing, a thermostat, a knob, with a spring-loaded movable part connected with the closing contact of the thermostat's power supply circuit, an electromagnet with a spring-loaded core, the winding of which is connected to the thermostat supply circuit torus, and one of the poles of the closing contact is rigidly connected with the core of the electromagnet.

The disadvantages of this device include the difficulty of manufacturing an electromagnet mechanically associated with an electrical contact that interacts with the movable part of the handle.

The purpose of the invention is to simplify the design.

The goal is achieved by the fact that an electric iron containing a metal sole, a heating element, a casing, a thermostat, a handle with a spring-loaded part connected with the closing contact of the thermostat power supply circuit connected in series with the heating element, a thermostat and a network is inserted a relay whose actuator winding is connected in parallel with the heating element, and the closing contacts are connected in parallel with the electrical contact connected to the movable part of the handle.

The proposed electric iron works as follows. When switched on and short-term action on the movable part of the handle 5 through the closing contacts 3 and the cold thermostat 2, the voltage is applied to the winding of the relay 8 and the heating element 7. The relay operates and closes the closing contacts 9, through which
