Description
The invention relates to mechanical engineering, namely to hydraulic shock absorbers operating on the principle of fluid compressibility and used in vehicle suspensions and machine damping systems.
Known hydraulic shock absorber containing a housing, a piston with a rod, a seal, a metal casing that protects the rod and the seal from mechanical damage.
The disadvantage of this> hydraulic shock absorber is that the protective metal casing does not reliably protect the friction surface of the stem from abrasive dust. In addition, the use of a metal protective casing increases the metal consumption of the shock absorber and the complexity of its manufacture.
Also known is a hydraulic shock absorber comprising a housing, a piston, a rod with longitudinal holes, a seal, a cover with an annular groove and a protective corrugated cover.
The disadvantage of this hydraulic shock absorber is the unreliable operation of the stem seal in dusty air. In addition, the stem seal does not provide an oil film that reduces seal wear.
The purpose of the invention is to increase reliability by reducing the wear of the stem seal and cleaning the cavity of the protective cover.
This goal is achieved by the fact that the lid has blind radial openings communicated with the annular groove and filled with working fluid, the stuffing box located in the annular groove of the lid is made porous and closed at the ends, and the hydraulic shock absorber is equipped with an air filter installed in the cleaning head cavity formed by the latter, a protective cover and a cover.
The drawing shows a hydraulic shock absorber, a longitudinal section.
The shock absorber comprises a housing 1, a rod 2 with a piston 3 and longitudinal cooling channels 4 connected to the vehicle lubrication system, a cover 5 provided with blind radial openings 6 filled with a working fluid and communicated with an annular groove; 7. in which there is a porous stuffing box 8, closed from the ends, a protective cover 9, mounted on the cover 5 and the rod head 10, which is equipped with an air filter 11, which serves to clean the cavity of the protective cover and located in the annular groove 12, and the rod seal 13 consisting of a set of chevron cuffs made of various polymeric materials.
The hydraulic shock absorber operates as follows.
7. ·Under the action of dynamic loads, the rod 2 moves in a vertical plane. When moving the rod, the seal 13 of the rod is worn, as well as the heating of the hydraulic shock absorber. To reduce the wear of the seal 13, an oil film is created on the stem surface using a porous oil seal 8, closed at the ends, located in the annular groove 7 and impregnated with the working fluid located in the blind radial holes 6 in communication with the annular groove 7. ·
The upper closed end of the porous stuffing box 8 prevents dust from entering from the inner cavity of the protective cover 9 into the inner cavity of the hydraulic shock absorber. In addition, when the rod 2 is moved in a vertical plane, the volume changes and the air moves inside the cavity of the protective cover 9. in this case, when the air moves into the inner cavity of the cover, the air is cleaned of dust, which settles on the air filter 11 in the form of small particles and does not enter on the friction surface of the rod and its seal
13. When air moves from the cavity of the protective cover, dust particles deposited on the air filter 11 are removed by the air flow, providing self-cleaning of the air filter 11. The hydraulic shock absorber is cooled by the flow coming from the vehicle’s oil system to the longitudinal channels 4 of the rod 2. this cools the working fluid and the friction surface of the rod.
