The purpose of the invention is to improve the quality of the ingot and reduce energy consumption for its crushing.
The method is as follows.
Initially, metal is poured into the mold at a speed of 10-55 kg / s. After that, slag weighing 0.09-0.12 mass of metal is fed to its surface. 1 Drainage of ferrotitanium into a mold at a speed of 10-55 kg / s promotes its intensive mixing, improving the macrostructure of the ingot and the uniform distribution of chemical elements over its cross section.
The supply of slag to the metal surface of 0.09-0.12 masses of metal provides an improvement in the macrostructure of the ingot, shortens the crystallization time, and contributes to the fullest transition of metal from slag to metal, thereby increasing its fragility. This makes it possible to reduce the energy consumption for crushing the obtained ingot upon receipt of commercial ferro-titanium.
Ferrotitanium was smelted in the melting unit. After burning the tap-hole, the metal, moving along the chute, was poured through the casting cup to the spoon. The metal was poured into the mold at a different rate, which could be changed by changing the diameter of the hole in the different glass (six glasses were used during casting).
The metal was cast into square cast iron molds.

After determining the chemical composition of the ingot by height at its three levels (top, middle, bottom), the ingot is subjected to crushing in a crusher, the time of which was fixed.
Table 3 shows the data obtained during the processing of ferroti- tane ingot, poured by the proposed and known methods. As can be seen from the table, the casting of ferrotitanium according to the proposed method makes it possible to improve the quality of the ingot by averaging the chemical elements over its cross section. It was established experimentally that when casting ferrotitanium with a speed of 10-55 kg / s, its fragility increases 2-fold, which leads to
