Description

Methods for boronization of graphite vessels are known, but they do not provide pure boron.

The proposed method for boronization of graphite vessels to obtain boron differs from that known in that the inner surface of the vessel is coated with a pasty mass obtained from pure boron and water or hydrochloric acid solution, followed by calcining the vessel in vacuum or inert atmosphere at 1600-2000 °. Thanks to this method of coating, it is possible to obtain pure boron and repeated use of the vessel.

The coating is carried out as follows.

Amorphous boron is moistened with water or hydrochloric acid, diluted in half with water to a pasty consistency. The resulting mass is applied to the bottom and the inner side surface of the graphite cup. It is then lowered and calcined in a vacuum or inert atmosphere at the aforementioned temperature required for boron refining.
