Description
In the process of electroslag remelting of steels and alloys doped with easily oxidizing elements, for example aluminum, titanium, boron, etc., it is necessary to prevent them from oxidation. The oxides of the elements contained in the flux-slag, which have less affinity for oxygen than oxygen, and oxides formed on the surface of the consumable electrode as a result of its heating, are the main sources of oxygen entering the melt. To eliminate the burn, flux slags that are pure in the content of unstable oxides are used, and the electrode is protected with argon, which requires the use of sophisticated equipment and increases the cost of the remelting process.
The proposed method provides for the prevention of oxidation of the consumable electrode by applying a protective coating of sodium aluminate, potassium aluminate or fluoride deoxidizing flux mixed on these aluminates directly on the surface of the electrode before melting.
This coating does not have unstable oxygen-containing compounds, which eliminates the formation of oxygen, and also does not contain carbon and other impurities that can pass into the metal during remelting and change its chemical composition
Performed tests of the show. IH. The use of the proposed method makes it possible to completely prevent the frenzy of the easily oxidizing alloying of their elements during electric remelting.
