Description

The known methods for separating copper-nickel matte into copper and nickel concentrates, as well as into the metal fraction by flotation, do not provide a sufficiently complete unfolding of the intergrowths, which complicates the flotation enrichment process. when grinding slow-cooled Feinstein, many intergrowth particles are obtained consisting of copper and nickel slphides. During flotation, such particles give an intermediate product that does not comply with the requirements of copper and nickel plants. In addition, commercial copper and nickel concentrates are made contaminated with such intergrowths.

The proposed method of preparing copper-nickel matte to flotation, in which sodium sulfide, sulfate or sulfite in the amount of 1-3% of matte weight is added to the molten matte, improves its structure and improves the technical and economic performance of the subsequent flotation process. At the same time, Feinstein has large grains of copper, nickel and metal alloy sulphides.

It has been established by experiments that with slow cooling of matte, to the melt of which sodium sulfate or sodium sulfite is added, a phase formed from these salts is released along the crystal boundaries. When chopping matte splitting occurs in this phase. In addition, in the grinding process, the resulting salt phase is released between the metal crystals, which also contributes to the separation of the crystals.

The method of preparing copper-nickel mattes for its flotation separation into copper and nickel concentrates using additives that change the matte structure, characterized in that, in order to improve the flotation quality indicators by more complete unfolding, sulfide, sulfate or Sodium sulfite in the amount of 1-3% of the weight of finstein.
