Abstract

FIELD: catalysts for olefin polymerization processes. SUBSTANCE: catalyst for polymerization of ethylene containing titanium tetrachloride on magnesium-containing carrier being interaction product of magnesium and alkyl chloride in hydrocarbon medium and containing magnesium, chlorine, and hydrocarbon polymer moiety, is distinguished by carrier's additionally incorporating aluminum with following carrier makeup (wt %): magnesium, 20.1-23.1; aluminum, 0.5- 2.9; polymer moiety, 3.0-14.0; and chlorine, the balance. In this case, titanium tetrachloride content in catalyst is 1.0-8.0 wt %. In a method of preparing catalyst by interaction of magnesium with alkyl (ethyl or butyl) chloride in hydrocarbon medium followed by applying titanium tetrachloride onto so formed magnesium-containing carrier, distinguishing feature resides in that magnesium-alkyl chloride interaction is carried out at alkyl chloride to magnesium molar ratio 1.3-1.9 followed by treating organomagnesium product obtained by ethylaluminum chloride with formula EtAlwhere x = 1-2, at molar ratio of the latter to the former 1-2. To increase polymer melt index, titanium tetrachloride is applied onto carrier in presence of tetrahydrofuran. EFFECT: increased cat activity.
