Способ приготовления катализатора для полимеризации этилена и сополимеризации его с α-олефинами путем смешения тетрахлорида титана с магнийсодержащим носителем состава MgCl• P, где Р - полимерное углеводородное соединение с мольным отношением С/Н, равным 2,2 - 2,3, входящее в структуру MgCl в количестве 8,2 - 16,6% от массы носителя, с последующей сушкой катализаторной массы, отличающийся тем, что, с целью получения катализатора с повышенными активностью и способностью к регулированию индекса расплава полимера в присутствии водорода, катализаторную массу перед сушкой дополнительно обрабатывают триэтилалюминием при мольном отношении Al/Ti, равном 1 - 10, и температуре 0 - 100C.1.
