In order to increase the control accuracy of polymer films connected by a transverse weld, the sample of the material is stretched, creep deformation and its rate of change are recorded, and the number or height of corrugations formed beginning to increase the creep rate of the film. The decrease in the height of the corrugations and the increase in their number indicates a decrease in the durability of the polymer material.

The invention relates to the study of the strength properties of materials and can be used to control the durability of polymeric materials.
The purpose of the invention is to improve the accuracy of control of polymer films joined by a transverse welded seam by taking into account the distortion of the specimen shape during stretching.
The method is carried out as follows.
A test specimen for polymer-welded seam films is cut perpendicular to the direction of the weld so that the seam is in the middle of the specimen. The sample is loaded by stretching, and at different stresses in different samples, the creep strain and the rate of its change are recorded. In the process of creep deformation, the length of the sample increases, the width of the polymer film decreases, the welded joint does not change its dimensions, as it has greater rigidity, but it changes shape and corrugations form along the weld.
In the first creep stage, the number and size of the corrugations change, in the second creep stage, i.e. after a sharp decrease in the creep rate, the number and size of the corrugations stabilize. The number or height of the corrugations is measured as parameters of the material by which the durability of the film is judged. To do this, the number or height of the corrugations formed before the increase in the creep rate of the film is measured, when the second creep stage is already completed, the samples are brought to fracture and the durability depends on the material parameters. The test results can be used as a calibration, and when testing similar samples, the durability of the polymer film can be judged by the number of corrugations or their height.
Example. Tested samples of polyethylene film with a thickness of 40 μm, welded at 160 ° C. Sample width 10 mm, deformation measurement base 20 mm. The number of corrugations varied from 1 to 7, the height of the corrugations was 1-4 mm, the durability of the film ranged from 3 hours to 1 g. The decrease in the height of the corrugations and the increase in their number was accompanied by a decrease in the durability of the polymeric material.
