Získanú surovinu celulózu je možné pomocou špeciálnych aditív a prímesí modifikovať tak, aby vlastnosti finálneho výrobku spĺňali konkrétne a účelové zameranie pre daný odbor využitia, a tým došlo k zušľachteniu odpadovej suroviny a jej opätovnému uplatneniu v trhovom prostredí. Ako prímes do aditív sú použité rôzne typy retardérov, ktoré ďalej zvyšujú úžitkovú hodnotu - napr. retardér horenia.
