Abstract
Photoinitiator comprises a borane and an electron donor. Photoinitiator comprises a borane of formula (I) and an electron donor. n' = 1-50; R'1 - R'4 = phenyl or another aromatic hydrocarbon group each optionally substituted by 1-6C alkyl (itself optionally substituted by halogen, OR'6, and/or NR'8R'9), OR6, S(O)pR'7, OSO2R'7, NR'8R'9, COOR'6, CONR'8R'9, COR'10, SiR'11R'12R'13, BR'14R'15, halogen and/or P(O)qR'16R'17, with at least one of R'1 - R'4 in an ortho position to the bond to B atom-substituted phenyl or forming another sterically-hindered aromatic hydrocarbon group ortho to the B atom; p = 0 - 2; R'6 and R'7 = 1-12C alkyl (optionally substituted by COOR7a, OH, 1-12C alkoxy, CN or halogen), phenyl or phenyl-1-6C alkyl, with the phenyl optionally 1-5 times substituted by 1-6C alkyl, 1-12C alkoxy or halogen; R7a = 1-12C alkyl; R'8 - R'15 = as for R'6 or 3-12C cycloalkyl or R'8 and R'9, together with the bonded N atom, form a 5- or 6-membered ring optionally also comprising O or S atoms or R'14 and R'15, together with the bonded B atom, form a 5- or 6-membered ring; R'16 and R'17 = as for R10; q' = 0,1; X = (i) 1-12C alkylene optionally substituted by OR'6, S(O)pR'7, OSO2R'7, NR'8R'9, COOR'6, CONR'8R'9, COR'10, SiR'11R'12R'13, BR'14R15, halogen or P(O)qR'16R'17 or optionally interrupted by -O-, -S(O)p- or -NR'18-; (ii) 3-12C cycloalkylene or 2-8C alkenylene each optionally substituted by OR'6, S(O)pR'7, OSO2R'7, NR'8R9, COOR'6, CONR'8R'9, COR'10, SiR'11R'12R'13, BR'14R'15 or halogen or optionally interrupted by -O-, -S(O)p- or -NR'18-; (iii) divalent aromatic hydrocarbon residue optionally substituted by 1-6C alkyl, OR6, S(O)pR7, OSO2R'7, NR'8R'9, COOR'6, CONR'8R'9, COR'10, SiR'11R'12R'13, BR'14R'15 or halogen; or (iv) a group of formula (VII) or (VIII); Y = -(CH2)r-, -CO-, -NR'18, -O-, -S(O)p-, -CR'19R'20- or a group of formula (IV) or (V); r = 1 - 3; s = 2, 3; R'18 = H or as for R'6; R'19 and R'20 = 1-6C alkyl or phenyl or together with the bonded C atom form a 5- or 6-membered ring; A' and Q' = a single bond, -(CH2)r-, -CH:CH-, -CO- or -NR18-, S(O)p- or a group of formula (IV) or (V); or R'1 - R'4 and X = bridges containing groups of formulae (IX) and (X); G' = -(CH2)t-, -CH:CH-, -CO- or -NR'18-, -O- or S(O)p- or a group of formula (IV) or (V); t = 0-2; and the groups of formulae (II), (III), (VI) and (VII) = are optionally substituted on the aromatic ring by OR'6, S(O)pR'7, OSO2R'7, NR'8R'9, COOR'6, CONR'8R9, COR'10, SiR'11R'12R'13, BR'14R'15 or halogen and the phenyl rings of the groups of formulae (VII), (VIII), (IX) and (X) are optionally annelated.
